So hiltler didn't slaughter Jews for being erm.... Jewish?Admittedly religion - or more likely fundamentalism, which could be seen as different - is a major issue im wars at the moment, but how did religion contribute to the start of the Second World war, or the First World war?
I don't see how jesus being married would mean women would have been treated equally, had they known. http://www.nobeliefs.com/DarkBible/darkbible7.htm
The God of the Bible decrees that woman must submit to the dominance of man.
"The social and legal position of an Israelite wife was inferior to the position a wife occupied in the great countries round about... all the texts show that Israelites wanted mainly sons to perpetuate the family line and fortune, and to preserve the ancestral inheritance... A husband could divorce his wife; women on the other hand could not ask for divorce... the wife called her husband Ba'al or master; she also called him adon or lord; she addressed him, in fact, as a slave addressed his master or subject, his king. The Decalogue includes a man's wife among his possessions... all her life she remains a minor. The wife does not inherit from her husband, nor daughters from their father, except when there is no male heir. A vow made by a girl or married woman needs, to be valid, the consent of the father or husband and if this consent is withheld, the vow is null and void. A man had a right to sell his daughter. Women were excluded from the succession."
-Roland de Vaux, archaeologist and priest
Jesus having a wife would not have changed things for women, imo, given attitudes throughout the bible.
Centuries of treating women as inferior, and all based on a lie. Allegedly

Causes and Effects of American Wars flashcards | Quizlet
World War 1
Causes::::: 1.Growth of German power in Central Europe challenged Great Powers (France, Great Britain, Russia). Effects::::: World War I did not completely end with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, for its political, economic and psychological effects influenced the lives of people long after the last shot was fired. Two main political changes rocked the world after the war: a greater number of countries began to adopt more liberal forms of government, and an angered Germany tried to cope with the punitions doled out to them by the victors, as its hostilities rose to the point where it provoked the second world war two decades later. Despite the advantages brought forth by developing technologies, the war mainly had a damaging effect on the economies of European countries. People's hopes and spirits also floundered, as they grew distrustful of the government and tried to cope with the enormous death toll of the war. The turbulent period after World War I called for a major readjustment of politics, economic policies, and views on the world.
World War 2
Causes::::: Treaty of Versailles Hitler's Actions Failure of Appeasement Failure of the League of Nations Effects::::: United Nations, In Europe, the continent was essentially divided between Western and Soviet spheres by the so-called Iron Curtain which ran through and partitioned Allied occupied Germany and occupied Austria. In Asia, the United States occupied Japan and administrated Japan's former islands in the Western Pacific while the Soviets annexed Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands; the former Japanese governed Korea was divided and occupied between the two powers. Mounting tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union soon evolved into the formation of the American-led NATO and the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact military alliances and the start of the Cold War between them.Economic recovery following the war was varied in differing parts of the world, though in general it was quite positive.
The Korean War
Causes::::: Japan had effectively occupied Korea since 1904. In the waning days of World War II, an agreement was reached between the United States and the Soviet Union: the Soviets would occupy South Korea only as far as the 38th parallel. The United States forces that arrived in Korea were wholly unprepared for their duties in Korea, not understanding its history and relationship with Japan. To many Koreans, independence and unification were their most important goals. Effects::::: The Korean War never ended, and they are still under an armistice to this day.
The Vietnam War
Causes::::: As for why the US got involved, Americans feared the "domino theory" of expanding communist empires. The Truman doctrine stated that America would assist governments resisting communism and because they were bored and needed somesin to do to entertain them and they are all very aggresive. Effects::::: The South Vietnamesee troops and the Viet Cong eventually captured all of South Vietnam. Many of the South Vietnames were placed in jail or in "re-education" camps. Many South Vietnamese attempted to flee their former country. Neighboring countries took in a lot of refuges. Many also tried to get to the United States. After the war, all of Vietnam was under the control of the Communist Government. There was economic hardship for most of the nation because of the length and cost of the war. Industry did not develop. Most of the agricultural fields had been damaged as a result of the war. Napalm, which defoliated the forests and brush grow, poisoned the land and many areas were not able to grow crops or sustain vegetation. It was not until recently that Vietnam has encouraged tourism and invited industries to build in Vietnam.
Modern War and Modern Religion
The iraq war was about WMDs (or if you're more cynical, it was about oil).
Like i said before, I am talking about modern wars. The second world war WAS religion related. Try telling a Jew that it wasn't.

They are modern wars. The bottom one on the list was 2003, the korean war is still being fought.
See post 26 for response to your last point.
Jesus never existed. It's a myth. There is no place left in society for religion. It is the cause of every war.
The Iraq War was about George Bush's ego more than anything. His dad failed to get rid of Saddam Hussain so It was always going to be on cards once he became president. Predominantly Christian Countries attacking a mainly Muslim country could be seen as religious act. Religion causes conflict all over the world, always has and always will

The three bigest killers of the last century were Hitler, Stalin and Mao tse Tung, they were all atheists so religion didn't cause them to slaughter millions.
