Gerrard = No
Ferdinand = No
Rooney = Perhaps but it could have a detrimental effect
Barry = Maybe? not sure if he is a guaranteed starter though..
Lampard = Not a good idea..imo

Can't see any clear candidate?

As Capello always said, he couldn't understand the fuss about who the Captain was anyway. There's MUCH bigger fish to fry going on right under our noses.

Unless he gives it to James it's just be f***ing silly, we'll make the moral high ground take the captaincy off an adulterer and give it to: adulterer;adulter/user of prostitues/fraudster; nightclub fighter; druggie; etc

Bye bye World Cup for an affair with a teammates EX girlfriend.

I trust fabio, but I think he's got this one wrong.

It is not just an ex-girlfriend, is it? It is the mother of Bridge's child and it is not just a team mate, it is his friend. His actions have led to this instability - if it can be described as that. I don't see how dropping Terry as captain is going to have much/any effect.

I think captaincy is overstated. Besides, Terry comes across as an egotistical, self absorbed tosser. Not great captain material in my humble opinion.

Instead of all these gagging clauses and court orders, he should have come clean and offered multiple apologies for his behaviour and stepped down as captain in the first place.

I hope he doesn't go to South Africa.

Good news I think. Sends a very clear message to everyone....dont mess with Capello!

Not great news - our captain is dropped after an expose in the Press.

Which paper was it that chose to undermine our national side at the start of World Cup year? Wasn't the Australian owned 'The Sun' was it?

I just hope Wayne Rooney is clean because I know for sure Murdoch will have people desperately hunting for a story to bring him down too.

Right, what along with the Forster story today, decisions have been made (and I really do not agree that Forster is not been offered a new contract) but
1) It is no excuse not to stay up
2) It is no excuse to stop us from getting at least to the Semis in the World Cup

Now being reported by the Times. Ruddy 'eck. I thought Capello would sit on it for a bit, perhaps he knows that there is more to come...

No big deal,

Meeting was 12 mins

I imagine Cappello said,

Look John , I don't particulary care about your personal life as long as you continue to perform on the pitch, it is a dilema for me though as we have to be seen to do something. I'm going to drop you as the captain with a view to re-instating once this dies down and if you continue to play well for chelsea.

Doesn't anyone else get so f***ed off with the media upsetting our national team? They do it every big tourno... I not saying it will ultimately affect our performance but it's so annoying - not many other countries media do this and get on their national teams backs etc...

What Terry did was wrong but i could've quite happily never known about it - it's his business etc - media = skum

Totally agree. I would go one step further and lay the blame at Murdoch's feet. Why peope don't see through him I have no idea.

It has to be Rooney.

100% agreed. In the form of his life and this could even boost that.

Hasn't done anything wrong in the eyes of the media for years now (as far as I can remember), seems to have properly settled down nicely with a wife and kid.

Why lumber him with the extra pressure, though? He is so key to our chances, it is not worth the risk.

Would much rather Rooney than Gerrard.

Maybe this might actually get a performance or two out of Gerrard for England though.
