***Warning***
This video contains a 'Look where I am on Christmas Day' brag, and a weird mid-life crisis headscarf.

Look beyond this if you can, and it's a very interesting development in global shipping, and a possible disruption to Russia's shadow fleet.

I've done that walk...but decided not to be all showy about it (oops 😁).
Interesting...as he said though, what will the Scandis, Finns, Baltics actually do with a ship if they find it doesn't have insurance etc.
Ensure their anchors are up.

Ruble is 113.686, up from 110.498. On New Year's Day, a bank holiday in Russia.

I don't know if the suspension of foreign currency trading has been lifted.

Erm , has anyone noticed that the central bank hasn't corrected the exchange rate back down to 110.5 or less? They're usually pretty quick off the mark.

Perhaps they can't get hold of Putin to give sign-off. Perhaps he's on his holidays and incommunicado.

Does anyone think that there's any scenario where NATO step in without escalation on NATO territory? I can't believe that this is still ongoing and with all the Russian interference in NATO infrastructure and elections to add to the war.

Acutely aware of the risks on NATO intervention, but I almost want it to happen and call Putin's bluff. He must know retaliation would lead to his demise. They've proven to be weak and his constant warnings to the west show it, because he's scared.

Very happy to be told to have a good sleep and rethink yet more escalation.
I could possibly see a scenario where “advisers “ from Nato members were posted to Ukraine (if they are not there already). I would guess NATO already shares with Ukraine any relevant satellite and comms intel.
I can’t yet imagine western troops moving in but if Russia suddenly made a determined advance on Kiev, would we sit by and let it be taken?

Has it been taken down or something? I get no graphs now.

I imagine your first para is already ongoing for some time.
For your second para... I wouldn't count on NATO doing much sadly, but I could see Poland, the Baltics making unilateral decisions to help directly 🤞🏻🤞🏻.

It's a shame if 10k north Koreans are used by Russia nato does not say we will provide 10k troops. No one is bombing north Korea.
I agree there should have been some very clear reaction. The US would say they removed a restriction so that Ukraine could fire missiles into Kursk region.
Much more could have been done, eg remove ALL restrictions on missile use, so Ukraine had the permission to hit any military target anywhere they could reach into Russia.

This morning, the ruble fell back down to 110, down from 113.5, after a bit of a delay. So it looks like 110 is the new floor.

The floor was 100 at Christmas, 105 on Dec 29, 103 (very briefly) on Dec 30 and 31, and now it's 110.

Thanks for all the information contributed to this thread over the months and years. I seem to have become addicted to watching the Ruble slide. 115 just now.

Touching 114 now. That’s a devaluation against the US $ of 55% in 2 years. That’s like us waking up and finding that £1 now only buys half a Euro.

I'd be less concerned about our currency and more worried that I'd just slept for 2 years
