A fair few of the likely suspects really showing us who they truly are this week

Trump could dream of that, and Putin could pretend it was on offer, but America would never get it. Putin claims that the land is Russian, so there's no way he'd give any of the resources to the US.
Yes, most likely Putin would pretend it’s on offer - as indeed he’ll pretend and lie about pretty much anything.

Thanks for posting @peterward

Think we may find that Government Heads and politicians find it difficult to speak with a consistent and clear voice because they're already so embroiled and influenced one way or another, or compromised, so it's interesting to hear from a politician who is not so caught up in things.

The latest Private Eye has just landed on my door mat. Their usual black humour front page has a photo of Trump and Zelensky under the banner headline “Ukraine Peace Plan latest” and speech bubbles:

Trump: Guess what the deal is?
Zelensky: I give in.
Trump: Correct.

It’s rare that I don’t laugh at their front covers but this is one of them. Probably says as much about the “negotiations “ as anything else I’ve read.

On the BBC New site, Trump's man going all bully boy:-

Kyiv needs to rein in criticism of US & sign the deal, White House security adviser says

White House National Security Adviser Michael Waltz says Ukraine needs to rein in its criticism of the US, as Washington tries to secure a peace deal to end the war.
"It's unacceptable, they [Ukraine] need to tone it down and take a hard look and sign that deal," he tells Fox News. The deal he is referring to is a push by Donald Trump for access to rare minerals in Ukraine in return for aid, or even as compensation for the support the US has already provided.
"We presented the Ukrainians really an incredible, and a historic opportunity," the adviser says, adding that it would be "sustainable" and "the best" security guarantee they could hope for.
Zelensky has publicly rejected an American bid to gain access to – and profit from - Ukrainian minerals, saying: "I can't sell our state."
But he says that the two countries can reconcile their differences.
But Trump can call him a dictator, lie about Ukraine starting war, about Zelenskyy having only 4% approval, insult him.... and yet Zelenskyy has to rein it in?

F*** this pr1ck and the even bigger gobby pr1ck he bows down too

I'm at a loss as to how to channel my anger 🤷🏼‍♂️.
I feel the same. A feeling of betrayal. Trump has p1ssed off all US allies to appease a murderous dictator. Whilst he doesn’t have to worry too much because he’ll be gone in less than 4 years ( thank god - I’m already counting down the days) we’ll be living with the aftermath of his hubris and ego for years to come. Trump’s now former allies should flip him a collective middle finger.

And (sorry to depress us further) but possibly Vance or another prat to follow Trump, and Musk will be pulling strings behind the scenes for fxck knows how long.

On the BBC, they tell us that the US side has banned the press from the meeting between Zelensky and Kellogg.

I think it's a good thing the press aren't there. I believe that Kellogg is on Ukraine's side, and without the press he may be able to better express his support for Ukraine, and help Zelenskyy work out the best way to move forward.

Regarding Kellogg, I heard on Times Radio that the Russians didn't want him in their peace talks. Yes, they tried to veto a member of the US team.

And it worked.
