i know we like to theorise and get carried away with the doom, but suggestions US will arm Russia has to be the point you stop and calm down.

an awful lot of the reporting on this has become media speculation, sprinkled with expert opinions of what one side or the other is saying, without real substance. example yesturday there was report of a Trump-Putin meeting next week, the spokeman quoted in article said "it could happen, or maybe not". so you have no idea then. then Putin has a interview where it's basically months away, which was spun as Trump needs to offer more, which wasn't actually said. meanwhile nothing has materially changed, lot of harsh words. it's like a soap opera.

Or it is like an idiot is in charge of high level delicate diplomatic matters that has wide reaching ramifications that would take a certain intellect to fully comprehend and the idiot who thinks they know everything just bounds in thinking they have a simple answer and it is the equivalent of negotiating a deal for a golf course.

Meanwhile, journalists and the watching world try to figure out whether there is some hidden deeper complex strategy involved, or face the reality that an idiot is in charge.

It's worse. He's an idiot with a deep and long standing admiration for Russia and it's fascist dictator.

Jake Broe is going to love this. His digest is already out. Something about Elon Musk, a weird salute, 14 US flags, 88 and HH. I'll link it later with timings.
Musk posted on X support of Afd in Germany..... the mask if off, he is cheerleading outright fascism.

Also out (not sure if posted here yet?)

Except soap operas aren't real.
This is real and it's happening right now, right in front of you.

It's even worse than that. He's the most powerful man in the world. He has all the information imaginable at his fingertips. He knows what Putin has done. The Pentagon had Russia right where they wanted it. Getting weaker every day.

And he has f***ed it up, emboldening and strengthening Russia. He has put Ukraine and other whole nations in peril.

I've only skim-read it, but I saw this:

'Oh and in another press conference he basically endorsed the right of conquest for Russia. If Russia has taken land by force, it is reasonable to expect that they can keep it.'

That's a green light to Russia. Thanks Donald.

the point is half of "this" isn't real, it's speculation dressed up as news. the signal to noise ratio has become very poor.

A lot of Trump's rhetoric may well be amongst other things vengeance. personally against Zelensky. for not going for quid pro quo Trump was offering, US military assistance in exchange for Zelensky supporting the claim that Biden stymied investigations into his sons investigation. (Which led to his first impeachment trial),

When Trump speaks of 'he has done a terrible job' and 'the war need not have started' perhaps in Trumps mind Zelensky was wrong to not take the deal on offer at the time, he may well see the refusal to accept the (extortionate) deal for Ukraine's minerals as further evidence that Zelensky is in the wrong/should be punished

Which if is the case shows that he needs a responsible adult.

Jake Broe digest:

(The analysis is grim).

It's a 40 minute watch so:

Start: Trump tweet
26:20 - Lifting sanctions?
27:15 - leaked Trump peace plan. Election to create division in Ukraine - and attack Zelensky's legitimacy.
29:50 - 14 flags etc. 14 words. 88. A nazi thing.

Wow, that clip of Ukrainian veterans at the end…that had me welling up.
