I suspect it is for real, in a Trump kind of way. It might just be Trump's way of negotiating/bullying a deal out of Ukraine, while also appeasing the MAGA lot.

Ukraine's national security seems to be being offered, but with a very* high price attached.

*$500 million or *$500 billion, according to which Trump interview/speech you choose.

After last November/December's entertainment, I've been keeping an eye on the exchange rate of the USD to Rub.

It's now at 95.9 Rubles to the USD. Not what I expected. So what's going on?

If you look at the daily graph, the falls in price are all a sharp, straight line down. Full disclosure: I have little to no idea, but at a guess, I would say the central bank of Russia has again been buying Rubles, in a bid to try and control inflation by keeping the cost of imports stable.

Anyone any other ideas?

The US won’t supply any technology of any note or worth to Russia. They are very hot on Scottish any technology that has a military use regardless of its original use.
Germany have similar laws so not sure how this would work.
