What an absolute shambles that club is, offering a temporary 6 month "try before you buy" deal to a prospective new manager. Is there ANY kind of plan there ? If they are looking for reinforcements this month then good luck with that, when any prospective signings will know they guy they're playing for is effectively from a temping agency. And all the time the current manager, who they haven't even got round to sacking yet, is completely undermined as officially a dead man walking.

What a way to run a club. A total clown college.

To be fair, a six month contract is bollocks unless you’re actually getting in a temporary Fat Sam firefighter kind of manager, who knows the role is just a stopgap. If West Ham actually want Potter as manager, they should offer him a normal dea

It's laughable but surely west ham are better than what's been rumoured? Potter will want a decent salary after what he was getting from Chelsea so maybe West Ham are protecting themselves a bit?

Maybe he doesn’t want to manage in the Championship and has a get out clause if he takes them down?

And yet, mr emotional intelligence is (apparently) giving serious consideration to joining the club.

Seems at odds with the Potter acolyte's and this idea that he learned lessons from perhaps being ‘misled’ by Chelsea.

Indeed, I’m sure he’s now gone on record and accepted he was blindsided and presented with a long term ‘project’ that was in actuality a load of horseshit.

It matters not, if he continues the form he got out of Chelsea it won’t be good enough for the Hammers, and he’ll be out after 6 months … for me he’s only after a longer contract to guarantee a decent payout when the inevitable occurs… I guess that is a sign of intelligence tbf.

Was going to say 6 months won’t be long enough for him to get them playing how he wants

He’s not going to take a supply teacher gig, but have just seen it’s likely to be a 2.5 year contract on the basis of performance (must be a low bar as he still needs time)

If wet sham want to protect themselves from Potter, the solution is easy.
Don't appoint him.

He f***ed up at Chelsea.
His permanent successor took one look at the 50 man squad and told 24 of them they are not in the squad.
Just because the stationery supply officer gives you 50 biros doesn't mean you have to put them all out on your desk at once.

Just looked up his record at Chelsea. He actually started quite well winning 6 of his first 9 games and undefeated until they came to Brighton. That’s when the wheels fell off, so maybe he will be alright at West Ham. :D

I agree, I'm not sure what it is really but it smacks of a lack of strength of character... Nothing more than accepting you're going to piss some people off... It'll be a similar story at West Ham, to a lesser extent, as (all joking aside) bringing someone like Kudus round to being a team player might be tricky, although he'll be gone I'd imagine in the summer...

The issue he's got is that the current group at West Ham isn't as strong as the squad he left behind at Brighton, plain and simple... AND moreover their fanbase won't settle for a repeat of the form he delivered at Chelsea and fundamentally a repeat of his average (mean) form at Brighton... For someone who has posted his numbers as a coach, interpolating 10 game winless streaks... it's a recipie for failure and inevitable sacking. He's not a big club coach, nor a coach of a club who think they're a big team... He'd be better off taking on a Southampton type club and maybe repeating the kind of shock season we're seeing from Forest and previously at Leicester... That's where he is in my book, as he lacks the strength of character that comes about coaching at a club run akin to a circus.

Agree Southampton would seem a good fit but he hasn’t actually achieved promotion from the Championship like every other English manager has had to do to become a Premier League manager. Maybe he has “imposter syndrome?” With his degree in Emotional Sympathy he would know that though. :ROFLMAO:

You might have nailed things with the Imposter Syndrome angle, I suspect he suffered from it massively during his spell at Chelsea.

Looking likely although not confirmed as of yet that Potter will be west ham manager. Look forward to his opening press conference going something like" I'm delighted to be back with a big club and brilliant supporters and looking forward to working with these quality players and getting them where they belong(challenging for Europe and trophies). Despite many offers and opportunities, I feel this is the right challenge for me and it has always been my dream to manage such a big club with a passionate support".😀

Just far enough away from LDC

This wouldn't be the 1st time he has been hanging around having been offered a job and just waiting for the club to fire the previous incumbent

You mean his presser might be a banal series of platitudes... with the emphasis on banal. I hope he's brushed up on his history because he's joining one of the biggest clubs in world football... No history lesson required - surely ?

One thing he won't need to brush up on is his teeth.

Like I said originally, this is a great appointment for all the wrong reasons - I can't wait to see how long the GP love in lasts... lose to us away and it'll be tricky lol.
