Another reason to give up ST. 150 mile round trip for a game is adding a lot to match day ‘experience’. For 3 nil home defeats to Burnley etc it’s easier, cheaper and becoming more pleasurable to put a rusty spoon in yer eye instead!

Itchy home knitted jumpers (organic wool), incense joss stocks and singing “We shall overcome”.
how large is the wind farm and whats the plan for when there is too little wind (as occured last autumn, triggering the first wave of electric price hikes)?

Maybe you should take her on at the next Election. With you and beorhthelm, you only need another 33,149 votes (and I'm guessing you can't depend on @Shropshire Seagull's vote). I always knew you were a hippy at heart

Well, I’ve voted for her since 2010. Wildlife/animal welfare/climate change have always been at the forefront at my mind.

I was just joking in the nsc satirical spirit, pioneered by WATFORD zero

Are you still pinning your blue rosette on Tim?

I do miss him.

But I'm sure I could improve my aim

Last week filled my lorry up twice, £1,840.67. This is both tanks 1 holding 1,000 ltrs the other 450ltrs. This week I will probably only have to fill once.

Well I did say UNLESS You were a Haulier. Very sorry for your situation.

I believe it really won't make so much of a difference for those who just drive locally and cutting down on long distance car travel is a good thing in any case.

Luckily I was able to fill up at one of my companies distribution centers, they have own tanks and bulk buy 40,000 ltrs at a time so are able to negotiate a price, I think they paid was 101p/p/l.
We have put In place various measures to reduce the cost our customers pay, like rather than every 6 weeks our vehicles go to the maximum of 8 week intervals for safety inspections, and keeping our vehicles an extra 18 months before replacing them. At least we are trying to absorb as much as possible before passing it on to our customers.

I've become slightly obsessed with the prices at Pease Pottage services. They're certainly competitive...

Today’s fuel prices:

Unleaded: 183.9 Diesel: 189.9

Where is Green Party (and most of you voted for her now) Caroline Lucas ? Just a point.

She's just been on C4 news - her solution, build a new wind farm, it could be fast-tracked to be online in TWO years.

how large is the wind farm and whats the plan for when there is too little wind (as occured last autumn, triggering the first wave of electric price hikes)?

Renewables are currently generating 50% of our power. Increasing the number of windfarms and solar PV facilities will only increase this (as well as other renewable energy sources).

https://grid.iamkate.com/

Coupled with increasing battery and energy storage facilities renwable power will only increase further. The industry will also create jobs and be a benefit to the economy.

Baseloads can be met with gas fired power stations and our existing nuclear sites, ramped downs over time and, if/when required in the short-term, gas fired peaking plant.

There is also the option of increasing interconnectors, but that requires some form of political guarantees, stability and close cooperation...

Rip of Britain at its best
Name and shame that’s the way forward . When and hopefully we do come out of this avoid them and make them pay

Unfortunately its not Rip off as you put it, With prices rising daily for purchasing, retailers need to be able to afford product when next ordered, they can not do that by keeping the price artificially low.

I see Ireland is looking to cut excise duty on fuel until August to help combat increases.

Worth remembering that the exchequer (over here) benefits from higher fuel prices with an increased VAT take …

At £1.75/litre, on cars alone, our retail spend on petrol and diesel would be £45b per annum.

Putting to one side the swings and ‘roundabouts’ in state coffers of VAT/duty, say that £1.25/litre is a pump price that keeps everyone extremely happy, should the government borrow a further £13b per annum to subsidise our driving? Plus factor in that for 5m high miles commercial vehicles.

What are similar nations such as France, Italy, Spain and Germany doing at this stage?

Filled up at Tesco Holmbush today, £1.57.9 for a litre of unleaded. Reading this thread, feels like I got a BARGAIN.

Who knows what it'll be next time I go pumping, but at least WFH 3 out of 5 days a week, a tank lasts a lot longer.
