In the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter unless you are a Goods Haulier?

I have to go down to Poole and back for a job on Wednesday. Even at £2.00 a gallon, there & back I make £40.00 less profit on a £1150.00 job.

Hydrocarbon fuel has always been underpriced. And I say that as someone who worked the North Sea for 20 plus years.

Surely going to see a large scale increase in sales/lease of electric cars. Good thing too. I'll be ordering mine soon.

I'm sure that's true but do you think the infrastructure is there to meet demand? I've mentioned on here before that even installing a gay charger at home could be problematic given how our power supply here here but even putting that to one side. We regularly have to drive down to Swansea which is about 110 miles on rural roads. We wouldn't be able to charge when we got there, I know of only 1 fast charger on that route. Surely we (the country) should be hiking up the infrastructure, quickly!

Wasn't that why we moved to litres at the pumps to give the impression that fuel wasn't that expensive

Yeah - and you get more of 'em! :dunce:

(Never mind the £1 gallon, I remember the fuss when it went past 50p a gallon. 50p! You could get two and half pints of beer for that - three if you drank Mild)

Current EV cars can do 200-250 miles on a single charge, all motorway service stations have fast chargers that will top up 80% in half an hour. My office has cheap chargers, many do now, and the infrastructure is spreading quickly.

Not sure he has to grow up. He just has a different view from yours. No need to denigrate the individual. Challenge the view instead. That would be the grown up thing to do :)

Why bother to challenge the view?
We all know where he was coming from with his simplistic emotive ‘polluting and killing’ statement and any challenge to that view would likely be brushed aside by more of the same.
To the likes of the poster, cars and car drivers are spawn of the devil.

I think the petrol price hikes will only add to the demand from workers to resume working from home, so I feel sorry for those bosses who have only got their employees back into offices.

Last week filled my lorry up twice, £1,840.67. This is both tanks 1 holding 1,000 ltrs the other 450ltrs. This week I will probably only have to fill once.

I have an electric car but the price I pay for electricity is doubling in April so it’s not all positive.

 though there's road price to look forward to, enjoy while you can.

Still 148.9 for unleaded at Sainsburys West Hove when I filled up about an hour ago. No queue either which surprised me at that price.

I diesel was about 155.9

Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Just passed and diesel was £152.98 I think

Still a fraction of fuel costs though

Not really.

This is my last 31 days (spot the trip to the Amex).

That is based on electricity cost of 21p per kwh. My electricity is going up to 38p per kwh in April. Petrol cost equivalent is based on current average price per litre.

She's just been on C4 news - her solution, build a new wind farm, it could be fast-tracked to be online in TWO years.

how large is the wind farm and whats the plan for when there is too little wind (as occured last autumn, triggering the first wave of electric price hikes)?
