Deffinetely looks like him

Seriously? I thought I was missing a joke, but that same image was in a screen shot from a news channel, so perhaps not. I'm not conspirationally inclined, but doesn't the lower half of his face and the edge of his beard make anyone else suspicious of this image?

ooh, just struck me... is it a case of adding the beard on either because his jaw is disgustingly disfigured, or like holding glasses over superman's face to prove he's clark kent? "Look, if you put a beard on this guy's face, you can see it's him" kind of thing?

Explain that one Pakistan?

Good idea the burial at sea to ensure no grave and place of significance. The SF and CIA will have significant body tissues to prove his death.

Unfortunately the network will have gained strength, depth & experience over the last ten years so whilst it's welcomed it changes little in my opinion.

Obviously didn't expect to wake us to this. Will be interesting to see what follows.

So he WAS in Pakistan all along then. Someone should have listened to that Afghanistani fella who said that all along...

I don't think it was the fact he was in Pakistan but WHERE in Pakistan he was. Not holed up in a cave but living in the biggest house by far in an area just 80 miles from Islamabad. All he didn't have was a postbox outside with his name on it.

800 meters from the Pakistan version of West Point and close to an American Marine/Special forces post. A multi million, two story cave.

But it was OK for Bin Laden and his cronies to celebrate 9/11?

So the answer is to lower our standards to that of the lowest common denominator?

As for killing him rather than capture, catch 22. Kill and make him a martyr and be aware of reprisals or capture and risk a plethora of kidnappings and hijacks with the ransom demand being his release. I think death was the better of the two options. As for burial at sea, prevents fundamentalists demanding his body and having a massive funeral as per the Ayatollah Khomeini (although it was a bit comical when his body fell out of the coffin!!).

The world will be a better place for his passing but what now happens remains to be seen. I doubt that a replacement will be the figurehead that Osama Bin Laden was.

As for the picture, apart from the obvious orifice out of place on his forehead, does it look like the rest of his face may have had a close encounter with the butt of a rifle?

i'm not sure if a replacement is even possible. he was chiefly a financial backer of a network of terrorist groups, has he passed on his money, his bank account details to someone? if not, thats pretty much it for the al qaeda group, beyond a few fringe followers who'll claim its name for the notoriety.

Another one who won't see Falmer.

Any truth in the rumour that the 72 virgins earmarked for Bin Laden were to come from Croydon - hence the 12 year wait to kill the fucker?

Interesting barometer of the 'special relationship'.

I have no doubt that if this had been on Dubya's watch a few years back he would have whispered a heads up to tony blair before the action.

I imagine the first Dave Cameron knew about this was when Nick Clegg gave him a nudge and asked if he could turn on the telly.

We seem to be drifting off topic. Back to the important issue, WHERE did that pic of Susanna Reid come from? And are there more like it?...

It's as dodgy as the Obama pic, her head is far too small for the rest of the body. I've got a dodgy one of 'Emma Watson' with her chuff out if you're interested?

I don't think the other 70 virgins get any better.

I'm pretty sure it came from someone's Photoshop, sadly.

Oh, shame. In that case, we should debate the irony of someone with a keen 'interest' in quality newsreaders having better Photoshop skills than the US Government.
