He looks like he is still alive in the pics I have seen, thought perhaps torchered / eyes gouged. Would they really kill someone with so much information to reveal ?

Don't believe he has been dropped in the ocean.

It is not like they walked in, caught them watching the TV and shot him. It was a fire-fight. As someone said earlier, they probably didn't even know who was being shot when.

He's probably alive & well in the carribean watching his new mates playing cricket.
Wouldn't surprise me if his fake death is part of some pakistani betting scam.

Strange wording by the Americans, there was a firefight AND THEN he was killed, perhaps there is evidence he left the compound alive ?

Of course they'd kill him, it's not like he was likely to raise his hands in surrender and come quietly. He probably went down all guns blazing, leaving no option but to take him out

And as for burying him at sea, it seems fair enough to me, otherwise you end up with some macabre shrine that thousands of fundamentalist nutters would rally around and perhaps remove the body from.

Anyone seen that American news clip where the newsreader accidentally tells the viewers that President Obama is dead ? :lolol:

Interesting barometer of the 'special relationship'.

I have no doubt that if this had been on Dubya's watch a few years back he would have whispered a heads up to tony blair before the action.

I imagine the first Dave Cameron knew about this was when Nick Clegg gave him a nudge and asked if he could turn on the telly.

If the Yanks didn't give a f*** they could have taken the guy out on/before the Royal Wedding, making William and Kate instant targets. I see they've since gone low profile on the honeymoon front. All in all I think it very likely the UK was informed early on in the piece.

One thing is for sure, if he wasn't killed in the fire-fight then his subsequent execution would not have been quick and (relatively) painless. Whether you agree with that manner of death or not for him depends on your stomach and thirst for vengence I guess.

Oh for crying out loud of course he's dead !!
They're really gonna ask him questions or think about what he knows while in the middle of a firefight.
To be honest I doubt there would be much relevant intel to be had as al Qaeda is more of an ideology than a fighting force with 1 man (bin laden) leading all the operations, for the last few years he has jist been more of a figure head for a movement or a mindset if that makes sense
It dont end here but it's a damn good scalp

I don't think it's a case of vengeance. I think its that OBL obviously holds a huge amount of info on terrorist organizations and if US intelligence knew even a tiny amount of it, it could save many hundreds or thousands of lives. They managed o get a lot of intelligence out of previous captures, he is obviously worth more alive

Say Obama was taken out a week earlier. Do you think William would have been driving thru London in an open top Aston Martin? I think not.

From someone claiming to be in the know he was actually killed six days ago but only revealed now so they could determine it was him, dispose of the body and make sure that there was no added incentive for a terrorist attack on the wedding.

The team aren't in Malaga. They were on a covert operation in Pakistan. They sat back and waited patiently. Gprdon Greer led the operation, but gpt himself court marshalled for thumping a member of the special forces. El-Abd flung himself to the floor, like a dying swan, at the sound of gunfire. Ashley Barnes had the first shot, but missed. Chris Wood hit the window frame, Casper Ankergren spent five minutes wasting time checking his equipment and it was left to Glenn Murray to shopt the bastard down - he is now negotiating a promotion to the SAS. Gus spoke to Al Jazeera and mentioned that it was a complicated operation. Is there anything this team can't do?

I think Susanna is growing her hair a bit longer

I noticed that too, hadn't seen BBC news for a few weeks. I think it was on Saturday morning, Charlie choked mid-sentence, asked her to carry on for him and she said they'd have to re-rack the autocue for her, so he'd have to get on with it. Then grinned at the camera and winked. Cheeky!

(it was about 9:45am I think)

I don't think for one minute that Clarence House has a hotline to US Special Forces.....

News just in- Cameron informed only two hours before Obama made his press conference.

I don't believe he would know as much now as you might think, he hasn't been in a position to orchestrate international attacks for years now, he's spent the last 9-10 years ducking & diving to evade capture.... Al qaida is a mind set of people most of Wich do not even know eachother, it is not 1 man
