David Coleman presented MOTD in the 60's. In the late 50's Wolves won the First Div title two or three times, and the FA Cup, and reached the UEFA Cup Final during the years he was on.Saw a post online about the next host of MotD and it prompted me to check something I thought was interesting (although no-one else might!). None of the previous full-time hosts support "traditional" big clubs.
Given that pundits are invariably supporters or players of those clubs, it's be good to have a presenter who keeps the flag flying for the less fashionable teams.
- Kenneth Wolstenholme: Bolton Wanderers
- David Coleman: Wolverhampton Wanderers
- Jimmy Hill: Fulham and Coventry City, weirdly
- Des Lynam: Brighton & Hove Albion
- Gary Lineker: Leicester City
I'd say they were a 'traditional big club' at the time.
