We've had umpty thrumpty threads on these pages in the past about the lack of atmosphere at Withdean. To my knowledge nobody has come up with a realistic solution. I am therefore proposing the first 'Albion scarf day'.

Everybody has got an Albion scarf tucked away somewhere and if you haven't you've got until January 13th to buy one or even ask for one for Christmas. Hell, you can even buy one for someone else for Christmas.

Ideally we'd want one of our sponsors to cough up the money so we could all have a blue and white bar scarf waiting for us on our seat upon entering Withdean for this game but rather like the roof on the South Stand, this isn't going to happen. It did at Newcastle and they haven't lost since, their form has improved as has the atmosphere and their fans are.....get this...having fun at games!!

If everybody brings a scarf to the Albion v Millwall game, we can twirl them above our heads, do a decent rendition of 'Super Brighton from the South' and maybe even have some fun.....fun at Withdean everybody. Songs about the club, not about stewards, it's going to be great.

If you think it's a mad idea then take a look at the following link. A friend of mine is a Borussia Dortmund fan, they thought of making 3,000 flags for one of their games. Everyone thought they were mad. Look what happened:

Click on

http://www.the-unity.de/dreipunktnull/index.htm

Then click on 'Bilder u. Berichte' in the menu on the left and the scroll right down to the BV Borussia 09 v Hansa Rostock game in 2005 and look at the pictures.

I'm not asking for that, I am asking for everyone to bring a scarf, it's not hard is it!?

We should get the Argus and the club on board to promote our 'scarf day'. Maybe the mods on here can make this thread a 'sticky'.

We have to try something, if it fails at least I can say I tried.

Post your sceptical comments elsewhere. Let's be and do something positive for a change.

As much as I'd rather not copy the dirty Argies, I think this is a great idea to get an atmosphere going. Let's make it happen.

of course the main difference between the picture at Dortmund and at Withdean is a) Everyone in those pictures are stood up and b) you havent got some miserable old fuckers moaning that they paid for a seat therefore they want to sit, and hence cant see.

Apart from that I think it is a great idea.

I will dig out my FA Cup final scarf from 1983.
