Although it's a good idea, it will not change the atmosphere at Withdean. The poor atmosphere is not down to the stadium, it's the supporters and no amount of baloons or scarves is going to change that. Most of the crowd at withdean have no interest in creating any atmosphere and the singing section is full of internet geeks (no offence guys), it's hardly behind the goal in the northstand, or even the rainham end at gillingham for that matter.

That said, one of the best atmosphere's we have had in recent years was when my mate brought along a load of beach balls.

Although to be honest I always thought the 'flag twirling' has always looked a bit silly.

Might have to fly myself over to Dortmund one day...
I'm planning to do that - I can't remember who it was but someone told me that attending a game in Dortmund was the best experience they'd ever had as a football fan - better than Barca, better than Milan, better than Withdean. I'm sure that a 25,000 capacity terrace (out of a capacity of 81,000!) behind one goal makes for a lot of it. Apparently they call it "the opera house of German football" - can't argue with credentials like that.

Would probably work well at an away game, as we often get terraces, plus the fans who travel away are, with respect, more likely to get in the spirit of something like this than a few pensioners at Withdean.

of course the main difference between the picture at Dortmund and at Withdean is a) Everyone in those pictures are stood up and b) you havent got some miserable old fuckers moaning that they paid for a seat therefore they want to sit, and hence cant see.

Apart from that I think it is a great idea.

I will dig out my FA Cup final scarf from 1983.
Let's be positive. Harveys is better than Dortmunder Union Bier and Borussia Dortmund haven't got the GDC, NSC or a nature reserve behind their ground.
