3 certainties in this life - Death, Taxations & Thee Oh Sees putting on one hell'uva show. I wish they'd show their face round here again. We got 4 gigs between 09 & 11 and haven't seen them since. I may have to go up to the big smoke for my next fix.

They're a band I'd travel to see for sure. Talking of big smoke the original venue had a fire a few days ago and is now closed. Shame as its a great place. I'm not sure if its pre-fire semi-derelict nature will mean it will be finally pulled down or it will carry on in an even more precarious manner?

Also, I recognised the support band (DIE! DIE! DIE!) from a mid-afternoon slot at The Hope during TGE last year or so.

Future Of The Left have announced they are playing The Haunt on 12 th November. If you like your music loud, fast and very furious then can I recommend this band to you. Seen them a few times now and in their previous incarnation- Mclusky. Always very entertaining and lyrically brilliant.

It was me, glad you enjoyed it. For their age they are phenominal.

If you do manage to see Sic Alps, let me know how it was. I've missed them a couple of times here.

Just started listening to phase IV of my San Fran garage/psych rock initiation which is 2 Mikal Cronin albums. Again, a great artist. More refined than the others, some great melodies and harmonies and bordering on pop at times. Good use of piano and violin as well. Gutted to hear I missed a gig of his back in May. And Don't Let Me Go is a song of beauty.

It's going to be my birthday party (I think - I'd like to see Julia Holter as well but can't be in 2 places at once & I think my pals would prefer FOTL)

Unbelievably good gig at the same venue last year. I'd always found them hit and miss live when they were a 3 piece but this new 4 piece line up shreds.

They were pretty decent in venues of this size as I remember before U2 made/ruined (delete as appropriate) them.

Has anyone got an idea how much money American Express have paid them to do this gig? It's got to be 6 figures.

Schoolboy error that!

I know. I've been gigging for over 30 years on a regular basis and this is the first time. It's an absolutely gutting and humiliating experience. The wife wasn't too impressed either.

I did that last year, at The Concorde for Alabama Shakes supported by Palma Violets. I thought it was quiet when we arrived. Mrs Pogue similarly unimpressed.

I have not managed to get a band date wrong but I did once travel to Reading to watch Brighton play. We were due to play Southampton away the next match and you can guess which tickets I brought along by mistake. I cringe with embarrassment even thinking back on it even though it was as long as ten years ago.

Just bought tickets for Yo La Tengo at the De La Warr Pavilion, probably wouldn't have heard about it for a while if it wasn't for this thread so thank you! So excited - they are amazing live.

Also just bought tickets for White Denim at The Haunt. Another great booking for The Haunt, would recommend people check them out as this is an oppurtunity to see a great band in a way small venue.

Need to get some tickets for The Knife. I kind of think it's going to rubbish and I'll hate it, but it's the kind of show you need to check out I guess, and when it comes rolling into your hometown it would be rude not to go!

Also considering Steve Mason, Mount Kimbie, Public Service Broadcasting, No Age, The Appleseed Cast, Porcelain Raft, Washed Out, Veronica Falls. This is a time of year when a LOT of gigs are on. Can't do them all! Also would definetely be getting tickets for Julia Holter if it wasn't for my previously mentioned resolve never to go to Komedia downstairs again!
