I think they'll more likely play really large arenas, like they have the last couple of times they've come over. I saw them at Alexandria Palace, which was great, 10,000 or so there, and had tickets for the O2 (f***ing snow)...as HT said once before, they are a band that suits the large arena - as long as you get standing tickets!

Who knows, they might even come here and make the Centre seem acceptable!

They have just been announced as headlining the two Primavera festivals in 2014. I think you will see them headlining a number of festivals over the summer. That said I think the will stick to arenas when touring themselves (as Arcade Fire) and I think they are a great arena band; I loved their show at the 02 on The Suburbs tour.

Had tickets. It snowed heavily. Couldn't get out of Brighton.

I went to an All Tommorrows Parties weekend with Portishead, Grinderman and Swans amongst others and it was incrediably loud with probably too much bass especially towards the back of the main arena.

That run on the Sunday that went Godspeed, Liars (who were a bit off form it I'm totally honest) Beach House, Swans, Grinderman, Portishead was probably the best music day I've ever had. The last 3 were just incredible.

Second night of Colour Out of Space for me tonight at the Old Market. Last night was an eye opener, especially the final act Ratb*stard who consisted of a guitarist and saxophonist making an unholy racket, whilst shouting obscenities at the audience. They also had a blow up doll. Anything could happen this evening.

Yes it was a brilliant line up. Great sets from Portishead. Enjoy tonight.

Saw Nick Cave last. A very enjoyable show focussing mainly on his recent long player. His other songs were re-worked to fit the mood as well. Mercy Seat and Red Right Hand were noticeably different. Jubilee Street went the other way with quite a thunderous finale. And the sound was the best I have heard in a long long time; really crisp and clear even during the thunderous moments to which the band are prone. The new album came across very well live...aided by the great sound.

The only disappointing moment was a pissed girl immediately behind me who decided to talk, sing and bump into me during God In The House; totally ruined what would have been a lovely version of a song. I felt very angry towards her. Why the ****? Buzzer mentioned this very same thing happened to him at The Brighton Centre gig.

I'd be interested to know why others felt The Dome song selection was not great. And what was the oncur as some said this was also an odd choice. We got 5 songs.

Major lazer at Brixton academy Saturday night, have to say they smashed it.Very young, energetic crowd which helped but such energy and good set from them,Diplo ran across the crowd in one of them giant see-through balls!!,they also asked for girls from the audience to come on stage to "perform" to bubble butt and the ones selected didn't disappoint. The Jamaican dancehall dancers also put in a great performance,i left a very happy old man especially after our 3-0 win that day and would highly recommend anyone to see them.

Encore at Brighton was
We Real Cool
Deanna
Red Right Hand
Pappa won't leave
West Country Girl and
Give Us A Kiss.

Last song was a new one and it was the decision to end with it which was odd. They played it as last song in London too and in my opinion a better known more energetic number would have been better. As for people not behaving at gigs it does my head in. I was at a Wedding Present concert when they were playing George Best in its entirety. Before this they played some lesser known numbers. The couple behind me talked throughout this and dared to shout at the band to get on with it. Have had worse than that though. I also can't stand people who sing along to a song either- invariably it is out of tune when everyone has come to hear the proper vocals from the stage.

Saw them earlier this year. It was exactly as you describe and I left the venue dripping in sweat, beer and totally exhausted; it was a small venue and the entire crowd went for it. A crazy night.

Just got back from Billy Bragg. Thoroughly enjoyable with a couple of pints of Rollberg thrown in.

He ended the Hamburg show with the same new song. I understand now.

And yes it is really really frustrating when people talk during a gig. And why did this girl choose the most delicate song of the set to start talking and acting an arse? Did she feel the quiet needed filling with her voice? I saw Apparat in Brighton a few years ago and he had enough of poeple talking all the way through his set at The Haunt; he asked once for it to stop as it was affecting the band....and when this failed he said he'd do a couple of loud songs and then finish up. If I ever won the lottery my dream is to open a small music venue. Rest assured there will be a SWAT team on stand-by to escort any talkers from Herr Tubthumper's.

Wow. I thought they'd be HUGE in Berlin.

As a follow up I was in a taxi last night and the radio played two Arcade Fire tracks within 20 mins of each other. Maybe things are changing?

PS going for a black tuxedo.

PPS Mikkeller is coming to Berlin when you're in town. He is a legend of the craft beer scene; the number 1 in many people's minds. Check out the Middle Aged Man's Craft Beer thread for details

Soooo - Colour Out of Space festival this weekend was an abosolute eye opener this weekend, I saw some genuinely inspirational stuff and it was a reminder if I needed one of how great this city of ours is. I don't think there are many other places in the world of our size that could get together a decent sized, knowledgable, enagaged and attentive audience for a selection of artists where I, as someone who pides myself on being "with it", knew 2 of 40 in advance. One for the adventurous souls amongst you next year, I would have paid double the £35 ticket price and still been happy. @Albumen in particular, I think you'd really get a lot from it.

Julia Holter tonight, those who have been following this thread will know I've been looking forward to this one for ages, I shall report back some thoughts tomrorow. I just hope the crowd is repsctful, as I'd imagine if there is a load of chatter it is going to kill it. Is anyone going to Future of The Left tonight? If so, let me know what you think.

I'm reviewing P is for Persia on Thursday night, a Brighton based band that I didn't know much about before picking them up. They are mental, a bit like Holy F*** or HEALTH. Very much looking forward to seeing if they can capture the intensity of their records live.

White Denim on Sunday.
