Resident have got quite a few returns. Give them a call or pop in. If you're too busy give me a shout and I'll try to sort it.

I will pop in on my way home, the gf isn't feeling all that well apparently so we may end up giving it a miss regardless.

Many, many thanks for the tip though. Very kind

Out of interest, how did you come across this golden nugget of information?

Off to see Editors supported by British Sea Power at Margate Winter Gardens tonight. A much maligned town but with quirky charm and great pubs.

I was tempted to go to the Brighton show just to see BSP.
Expensive for just half an hours worth though.

Used to love The Cult in the 80s

Same here. Saw them at the Top Rank on the Love Tour and The Dome on the Electric tour.

My first gig with the gf was Editors @ The Engine Rooms in 2005. They were absolutely brilliant. I then caught them wiping the floor with Franz Ferdinand at the Centre a matter of months later. Not seen them since I don't think, they were a blooming brilliant live band back then. I remember thinking the guitarist (who has subsequently left I believe) was a Johnny Greenwood in the making. Can't get them all right, eh?

Brighton - In your face
It wasn't a big support, it was for the low key Krankenhaus dates they did testing new material for the last album at the Haunt. The announced support was cancelled at the last minute and they took the gig. The link I believe was The Quietus, where I believe they do have a couple of friends.

That's fair enough then, luck it was! :)
Enjoy the gig (and for gods sake join Resident on twitter or Facebook - schoolboy error).

I managed to sneak a freebie for Editors/BSP last night.

I'm normally not a fan of BSP support or festival sets, you don't tend to get the full experience but I thought they were on top form. Really good setlist considering, a pal of mine got to be the bear last night so that was fun. Perhaps that skewed my judgement because there were some technical problems, the crowd didn't really get into it and Phil was at a parent/teacher evening, I understand

I left after around 40 minutes of Editors, they were exactly as I thought they'd be. The old stuff still stands up, I thought "Someone Says" in particular was excellent but sadly the stuff from the last couple of albums bored me stiff. Since when did Tom Smith turn into a budget Chris Martin?

What did you make of it Corgi?

Unfortunately, despite a tip off from Kevo regarding it being a 45 minute fully amplified set, I did not make it. Shame as I have not seen them since the spring which is probably the longest gap since they first formed. Glad you enjoyed it though and that Polar Bear was in evidence. I did make Savages Tuesaday and thoroughly enjoyed that. They seem to be getting even louder and darker. Lead singer is far more confident that that first Krankenhaus night and appears to be enjoying herself more. The audience has become much younger too which I guess is important for continued success etc. Next Tuesday is the Future Of The Left/ Julia Holter issue- still not got tickets for FOTL but their album is so good I may regret that decision. I know a couple of people who will be there and are bound to inform me that it was the best night ever!

And you'll be able to tell them you saw a genuine, bona fide international star in the making. Swings & roundabouts!

Without wishing to be rude (as I love Future of The Left), Falko will still be playing the toilets in 10 years time. I don't think you'll get the chance to see Julia Holter at a venue of this size again any time soon.

Whilst I do not know a lot about FOTL I would agree with the Holter sentiment.

You could well be right! I would love them to have some success though- output wise they really deserve it. My girlfriend will appreciate Julia Holter-she saw FOTL last time at The Haunt and found it 'on the loud side' so its looking like the right choice has been made.

I am not sure what I can liken FOTL to. Their sound is pretty distinctive in a way that the The Fall's is buit they are both louder and faster. I guess best thing is to listen to their albums. The first and fourth are best. They were originally known as Mclusky and produced three excellent albums- then came some major changes in personnel and a new name.

Doh. That was meant for the opening song lyrics thread.

Lyrically: The Fall
Musically: Fugazi & Faith No More,

IMHO
