He's not the BEST option in any one position, but he guarantees you a spot-on attitude, gives 100% graft, and in a small squad Virgo's sheer versatility will prove to be a VITAL asset to us this season.

Completely agree. Murray and Forster is a good combination. Virgo is a great player to put up there late on but not a starter up front.

I am not necessarily questioning him being in the squad (although I admit I said I would perhaps have rather the money was spent elsewhere). It just baffles me how Adams has gone on record saying Virgo is the first name on his team sheet when I can't think of a single position he is best at.

Thats the murray who scored 20-odd goals last season and struck up a more than useful partnership with Forster then.

OK.
5 games 1 goal. Not to many people rate him either at Withdean.I wonder why?

Who scored 9 goals in the championship. He will get about 15 in league 1

and what will he add to all round play? Nothing. Forster and Murray are about as good a partnership you can get at this level IF you give them the service.

Whing is a far more accomplished right back than Adam Virgo.

Not quite sure where this myth about Virgo having excellent distribution has come from. All I remember of him is knocking hugely over-optimistic long diagona balls which rarely, if ever, paid off.

Dropping Whing for Virgo would be near criminal.

Oh, and Mr Mendoza - I have agreed all along. I remember starting a thread on it and other than a few of us everyone said how well he was doing centre midfield.

What a load of baloney. Every game I have seen him play there has passed him by.

As I have tried to explain but you obviously do not wish to listen.

Our problems this season have all eminated from the right side of the team as Cox does not drop back to help Whing, Elphick does not get across to cover Whing so if he ventures forward we are exposed. Every team we have played this season has attacked us on their left and obviously sussed out our weakness with their scouts looking at our matches before playing us.

Virgo will pass the ball down the line, or towards the penalty spot behimd the central defenders. Whing will hit aimless balls in towards the middle of the field near the edge of the box which is easy meat for central defenders or out for a throw in. Whing is not as good as when he first came here and is now getting beat in the tackle as showed towards the end of last season with his numerous bookings. He needs to be dopped to get his hunger back when he is not a first choice or tried as the ball winning midfielder just in front of the back four, in the old El Abd role.

Seem to recall Virgo once had a side bet with Leon Knight - he's alright  - as to who would score the most goals by Xmas.

Virgo won the bet

Forster has gone through FAR leaner spells than that for us. Would you ditch him as well ?
Get of your soap box you plonker.Forster puts in 100% work rate.Lazy bones on the other hand,i'll drive him to Preston myself.
