You can call me Emily if you like, I just wish you could see SENSE on this matter.

I'm not saying Virgo is a bad player. He's a good option to have to sling up front to change things around occasionally. But he's nowhere near as effective a partner for Forster, and permanently playing him as a striker is only going to encourage us to go even more long-ball than we have been already.

We've just got mcleod back. We've missed him greatly - he will provide that little bit of creativity we've been lacking. The service into murray and Forster will undoubtedly improve with mcleod back in the team, and thats what they will thrive on.

Virgo is not the right option. IT AIN'T BROKE ! IT DOESN'T NEED FIXING !

I'm not saying stick Virgo up there permanently as that is daft. But what you get is a more commited player the Murray.I know what you are saying about the Murray/Forster link but you still don't get it either. You seem happy to except a lazy player just because he is intelligent and works well with Fozzie. It will only take man marking Murray for him to be pretty useless. He doesn't have the pace or energy to lose players who will man mark him.You shut Murray out and Forster has far to much to do then.

The best ever centre half /centre forward was John Charles, only the very oldies will remember him.

Never booked or sent off in his entire football career and in 1997 was voted 'the greatest foreign player ever in Serie A', above Diego Maradona, Michel Platini, Marco Van Basten and Zinedine Zidane.

Hmmmm......... Adam who?

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
From what I remember of Matt Elliott he started quite a few upfront (for a defender), but I couldn't put a number on it.

I am sure Murray has been man marked for much of his time here, but it doesn't seem to have affected his contribution.

Well then fella, we shall have to agree to disagree on this one.

Murray and Forster got a hatful between them last season, and they're already doing it again this season. I really don't see what more we could want - believe me, theres not many teams in this divison who are blessed with two forwards of this calibre who combine and score regularly. You disagree and want to break that partnership up - I think that would be utter madness. Have to leave it at that methinks.

The forward partnership of Murray & Forster and the wide defensive pairing of Whing RB/ Richards LB are the only positions so far this season that are surely not even up for debate.

To use that favoured expression........ " it's a no brainer ".

There are some bloody MUPPETS on this board, and they are the sort of SCUM who try and force a fecking good player out of the club.

Murray is QUALITY - he didn't score on Tuesday night, but only because of a bloody good save from his header - i think the only 'chance' he had. However, his link up play with Loft, Cox and Mcleod was top drawer - he can turn, control and pass, and he WILL get goals if he gets the service.

It's no co-incidence that with Cox on form at the end of last season, Murray was banging them in. He's not a miracle worker though, and won't score from non existant chances. Get off his back, give him a chance and ENJOY watching what he DOES, rather than what he doesn't do.

Couldn't agree more.

Who says he's a lazy player? Only a few numbskulls on NSC who keep banging on about it. He isn't lazy at all - watch him in a game, he is constantly making runs across defenders, drawing people away, making space for Forster or dropping back to get the ball. He has a fairly easy running style - he's not chest out arms pumping like a Rooney - but he is very far from lazy. before replying, please watch him again and then decide.

I'd add McLeod to that list too. Along with Elphick and The Hawk.

Pretty strong looking side early on when you can pencil in the entire back four, the front line and a winger before you even have to think about who to pick.

Add FDM to the list. Obviously.

Without saying. So MA saves a word document looking like this to save him retyping the team sheet each week - nice position for a manger to be in:

Kuipers
Whing - Elphick - Hawkins - Richards
______ - _______ - _______ - McLeod
Murray - Forster

Mind you, try typing the "Reserves" team sheet in the same way and it looks a bit thinner.

Best thing McGhee ever did was getting that big a fee for Virgo.

To think Celtic paid the same as Spurs did for Zamora is mental.

The same way that ex-Albion player Howard Wilkinson bought Mark Beeney off us when he was at Leeds, to ease our nightmarish money problems. I'm always happy to see friendship and alleigances play a part in football!
