Myleene is indeed fantastic.

I think I would have a few good weeks with Gemma, then settle down with Myleene.

[Given the choice, like!]

You are right TID, that is why on Saturday whilst I am at Leyton Orient cheering on the Albion with loads of other fick morons, you will be watching a chess tournament in Highgate village with Professor Twat

it's pronounced 'twart'.

anyway, rusthall, i wasn't talking about me. i like football, loud music, girls with big boobies, i don't understand classical music or jazz, and i haven't read shakespeare since school. i'm not saying i'm the cultural yardstick against which all should compare.

Don't worry Tesco. Everybody thinks like you when they're sixteen. You'll grow out of it soon, and realise that its okay to like what you like, and there's really no need to try to impress the cool kids at college.

Be careful with the blu-tack on your Che Guevara poster though - it can mark the walls and get you into trouble with your Mum.

Yes, but you were wrong.

However much you pseudo-intellectualise it, you still cannot make a case for program A being a ''better program' than program B.

As a program maker, your job would be to create a piece of work that you can sell - to advertisers, schedulers and the viewing public. If ten times more people watch program A than watch program B, and advertisers pay ten times more to be associated with it, then by those crteria alone, program A is BETTER.

Or do you think that if the 10% of potential viewers, who choose progam B are all terribly worthy Jazz fans that alters the argument?

For f*** SAKE Simon. The word is spelt 'programme'.

You're not a fackin' American.

interesting position, hans. the trouble with your relativist stance is that you become forced to accept a number of distasteful conclusions. elton john's 'candle in the wind' was the BEST song ever recorded, because it sold the most singles. do you agree?

nope - it hinges on what is BETTER. In the example you and HKFC are discussing it's getting viewers to watch TV.

QED.

So you're going to just pick and choose which words of any given sentence you read, are you? Did you not see the phrase 'by those criteria alone' in the middle?

However, whilst in my PERSONAL view, there are obviously much better songs to choose from, the song you have mentioned is liked by very many more people than many of the songs amongst my own favourites. So, yes, it IS a good song.

Just as Leona Lewis CAN sing [despite me not liking her stuff] and Manchester United ARE a great football team [despite me hating them], etc.
