How long has Slade got?

I think this is a reasonable question - I certainly see no reason for such hostility for someone posing it. There's certainly been a degree of impatience among Brighton fans (and the directors) in the past few years, a trait that wasn't there a couple of decades ago. In my first 30 years of watching the Albion, we had 13 managers, in the next 12, we had 11 - that's some attrition rate we have now.

We've seen several managers under pressure after a run of just a few bad results - and this time we have a new chairman who may be less inclined to be patient. I agree with Ninja Elephant, I'd be surprised to see him in his job by the yeovil game; pleasantly surprised, but surprised all the same.

It might have been a reasonable question had it not been posted by a tried and tested miserable wanker. Thanks to WW's track record of forever posting negative threads it's none too surprising that there's such a huge amount of abuse.

If Slade can put together a team that play a bit of decent football and don't spend most of the season in a relegation battle I'll be happy, I'm just desperate to see Albion play like a team and entertain, something that we have not managed consistently for years.

Play hoof ball with a team that look disinterested and clueless and he'll be gone by December. I think he'll do ok without setting the division alight.

Promotion is NOT on the agenda this season so forget it. Bloom does not want promotion this season he could quite easily bank roll it but he isn't. He isn't because I am afraid to say is not convinced at Slade. Slade achieved a great end of season when Bloom had the gun loaded ready to pull the trigger. Us staying up ruined Bloom's plans for sacking Slade and betting a " big name " in. They could hardly sack him could they ?.

Bloom I think will give Slade a paultry budget to spend in the hope Slade fails and we get the big name in ready for Falmer.

I do think Bloom wants a promotion push in 2010/2011 and may well bank roll that season with his big name manager but as for next season forget it.

We have about 16 players and no one wants to join us and our good players want out. Why is that ?. Its a worry.

It seems that you're not convinced by Bloom or Slade and that you are about to go on a crusade against them both before a ball has even been kicked, just give them a chance eh ???

I liked Slade and went off him when we lost games and likes him again when we won games. Fickle maybe.

I am not going to give Bloom a blow job until he has delivered on his promises. Also Bloom wanted Slade out. Slade only joined as no one else wanted the job. Slade achieved a near miracle and Bloom had to give him a contract but the fact we were sniffing aroung " big name " managers when Slade was going about his work tells you all you need to know.

Possibly, but then I think Knight did the right thing in sacking Gritt. He pulled off the great escape, was deservedly awarded a contract but wasn't good enough to take us further, imo. It seems it was the right decision as I don't recall him doing anything of note after he lft us. If he was any good he'd have prospered elsewhere. He will always be fondly remembered by me for saving this club from possible oblivion, but how long should we have let him trade on that, is a mute point.

If Slade doesn't produce quite quickly I think he will get the sack, but he deserves our support whilst he goes about his job, if it wasn't for him we'd be playing league 2 football but that won't be worth a thing if we are in a relegation dogfight come December. No manager can expect to rely on last years results this year.

What a load of nonsense.

If Bloom wanted (or wants) Slade out, he'd be gone. If he wasn't convinced by Slade he had an ideal opportunity to replace him before the contract to keep him here was signed and I'm sure he's ruthless enough to fire him (or not hire him) if that's what Bloom wants.

So, you think there will be a paltry budget in the hope Slade fails? What kind of idiot do you think our new chairman is? What do you think Bloom is thinking? "I have a cunning plan: I'll make money scarce in the hope that we fail so I can fire the guy who I handed a 2 year contract to a few weeks ago".

The stupidity on here astounds me sometimes.

Bloom is not stupid.....it's not about this season...the whole masterplan is geared towards the season after's run up to Falmer. Bloom will do what is needed and no more to give Slade the resources to stay up. If Slade then succeeds in keeping us up in what will be, looking at the other teams in the league, a mighty tough division then he has achieved.
I think Slade has at least a season's grace from any barracking after what he has done for this club sice he took over.
Being realistic, if he keeps us up next year I will be chuffed to bits.

Well I already think he's a clueless tosser for letting Tom Fraser and John Sullivan go so I'm on his back already. Slade out!

No, in seriousness I think it is a fair question. As has been pointed out boards and fans (not just Brighton ones) are far more impatient and demanding than they were 15, 20 years ago; some ludicrously so. You can bet your bottom dollar that if we go four or five games without a win somebody (possibly the starter of this thread) will post something along the lines of "I thought Slade was the right man for the job but I'm having second thoughts now, we've been rubbish recently." And so it will begin.

Blimey, there's already mutterings because we haven't signed anybody - and the transfer window hasn't opened yet!

Funny really, there's some good posts in this thread. I think it fair to say if I had posted this under a different username there wouldn't be the same old moronic replies coming from the same old sad obsessive's who seem to enjoy picking on my posts. :whisky:

It much about you rather than what you posted, you reap what you sow. Whenever people see your username then they automatically think 'wanker', and you can't blame them.
I would be embarassed to post half the crap that you do, where's yourself respect? As I said before is it natural ability or do you have practice at being a tosser.

No point in discussing Slades future until the transfer windows been open a couple of weeks. Also has it occurred to you that TB might have the final say on who comes and goes, purchance Slade gives TB a list of players he wants and TB does this rest...... or is the ability to think in alogical manner not within your abilities ....

I think its an interesting thread, NOT negative as WW never said he wants Slade out, just asking a question of how long he has got

How can you say it's not negative when he's trying to claim that players dont want to join us and all our best players want out?

We dont even know who our target players are so trying to claim they dont want to join us is just negative rubbish, And one player has asked for a transfer because his family has'nt settled in the south so it hardy constitutes all our best players wanting out so yet again more negative rubbish.

Love it, atleast let him get a pre-season before beating the bloke. He is on holiday until next week so therefore no signings until at least then its not that difficult to work out.
As for the promotion thing I'm sure TB realises that he can't decide when we get promotion, we will be building to get it this season and if it comes superb and money will go into keeping us in the championship, if not then next season we will go for it again. All this he don't want promotion this season is frankly balls

BALLS.

There was no way on God's earth Bloom could have sacked Slade after he kept us up. There w0uld have been a riot and Bloom would have lost all credibility. He reluctantly had to give him a contract but he will not be bank rolling Slade. He will save that until he gets the man he wants.

The stupidity on here astounds me sometimes.

You maybe right, its all about opinions, but I can see his point of view without having to hurl a load of abuse his way, like the majority of posters on this thread

Targets have come and chose elsewhere. Owusu, Crowe, Robinson.

Good players have wanted away for various reasons, Murray, Lynch.
Whing wont commit, and kept his options open, if he signs, it is clear we are his second choice.

McNulty didnt want to come, the deal was dead, but money was a factor and he came.

Dicker, no one knows the situation with Stockport and the administration stuff.

if thats the case why was Slade given 2 years? Bloom will not be undercutting Slade financially in comparison to any future manager. Slade has done well with clubs with no resources im intrigued to see how he does here. For what its worth however i think the only way Slade will go is if we find ourselves in the bottom 3rd over a period of time. I think mid table is acceptable after last season and a mass clearout.
