How many goals has mccammon got in his days at millwall and Brentford?
Brentford fans thought he was dire in lg1

And how many free strikers do you know that will contribute more to the team, take the same wages and want to join us? Maybe you should tell Mark McGhee if you can think of one instead of spouting crap on here.

Is there a YAAAWWWNNN icon available?

I get behind your posts for the same reason Kinky :clap2: :clap2:

I was not at the game yesterday so cannot comment on his performance there.

I do find the argument about trusting McGhee somewhat weak though.

McGhee is a brilliant manager and has done superbly for us but that does not automatically mean that every decision he makes is the right one.

Take Alex Ferguson as an example. He has done amazingly well at Old Trafford and signed some superb players. That does not, however, mean that Man Utd fans cannot question signings like Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, that really crap french centre back that played one game for them because he was so shit, the numerous crap goalies he has signed.

The argument that McGhee will get the best out of him is also a weak one. Why did McGhee not get the best out of him when he was manager of Millwall? It was not because he was not match fit then was it?

I will support McCammon at games and get behind him as I would any other players but I think we are a far more threatening side with Gary Hart in the team and playing football on the floor rather then resorting to long balls that even when McCammon does win them, leave Leon likely to be muscled out of the ball.

Better to play it on the ground into Leon's feet and get him running at defenders.

I dare say that a few of the Brighton Bears Basketball team are good in the air and would run about a lot but nobody is suggested signing them. ;)

I agree with this. Just because MM is proving himself to be another great Albion manager does not mean every signing is going to be great as Richie states above even Fergie has made some duffs signings.

Bringing it closer to home, Mickey Adams is universally loved by us all but he still brought the likes of David Cameron to the club.

No one is perfect.

Albion & England forever.

SAKE - There will AGAIN be lots o free transfers in the summer. There is enough is the squad to do the job this season.
Mcghee does not need to waste his money on Mccammon

But target men are never judged by their goals alone. McCammon provides a physical threat to big central defenders which neither Harty or Knight are capable of. I wasn't the only one who thought we needed somebody like McCammon up front against Forest in order to create space for Leon. I remember 5 Watford defenders trying to dispossess him at one pont during that match, leaving the others space to work in. If he can sit on a few defenders whilst making space for others then I think he has done his job, he may even be lucky in scoring the odd goal or two as well.

There clearly ISN'T enough in the squad this season. Playing Virgo up front means he can't be played at the back.

And as for the free players in the summer... we do still have to pay them you know. They're not really FREE.

No-one is arguing that McCammon is fantastic. We're just arguing that for the money we can afford, he's probably about as good as we'll get for the type of role he's being asked to play ...(Possibly, he's about as good as we NEED to get for that specific role... what's the point in paying a fortune for a foil to Leon, when you can have a player who's adequate for the job and maybe have a bit of cash left over to strengthen the overall team).

On the basis of yesterday's performance, he is substantially less than adequate. And as for being better than Iwelumo ... that's just silly.

Iwelumo scored three? Wow.

Against defences a division lower that usually looked a lot less organised than we see now.

There's not much in it. They're both big lumps, but for me McCammon just shades it because he's better at holding the ball up, and marginally better at running with it....

Equally unlikely to put away a one-on-one, but you can't have everything.

As for what Mark McGhee earns... you've lost me with the relevance of that one.

3 in 13 + one crucial penalty is a lot better than 0 in 7-odd and one of the worst performances I have seen from a professional footballer. I can't believe there's any question over Iwelumo being better - he wasn't brilliant, but he did have the advantage of not having the touch of someone with shoeboxes on his feet.

I ment Mark Mccammon :dunce:

Well whatever he's on, it'll be a damn sight less than any other free transfer striker you can come up with who's got a proven track record at this level. That much is a pretty fair bet.
