Homophobic Derby Fans banned

The same thing in West Street would result in a fine & an extra fine for the homophobic content.

Football has it's own rules due to the past. Most clubs like to keep police presence down to a couple of coppers, so banning convicted criminals for 3 years, helps that.
What have bed setters got to do with anything? Nobody reported those 2 fans. They were drawing attention to themselves.

Seems to me that the moral of this little story is that if you act like a ****wit at football there is a chance you are going to get nicked. There is a very simple way to stop this happening, don't act like a ****wit.

Its not rocket science.

Cant be arsed to read the whole thread but my biggest concern with the punishment given to these two fools as a person who was there when the plod picked them off is.
They didn't start it,the hippy one was the softest target for the plod to pull and the old git was a secondary. As usual the plod picked the easy option.

They are 25 & 20 so is the 25 year old the old git?

Two were pulled from the crowd as I was heading for the Bus stop, one was long haired the other I thought was about 40,perhaps they pulled 3 and let one go.

They were walking to the station, so you probably didn't see the incident.

You are avoiding the question sir (maybe that should be with a 'c'). Do you think a 3 year football banning order is appropriate when compared to the measures that might be levied if the offence was committed post drinking time on a Saturday night?

My personal view is that a year is enough, but I don't make the rules.

Agreed, neither of us make the rules, but our opinions should influence them. So why do you continue to berate posters who say that the law is too harsh when concerned with football 'related' offences?

Where have I berated anyone? I said that other fans shouldn't be slagged off when they haven't got a right of reply, especially when their real name is used by anonymous posters. That's cowardly.

But Liz Costa has got the right of reply, she only has to join (probably has), and make posts like anybody else. The majority of Albion fans do not have the access to the media that she enjoys/works/manipulates as the 'Chair' of the Supporters Club (with a membership of around 500).

You do seem happy to berate Pink Fairy as her opinions do not seem to sit happily alongside your own.

Why should you have to explain (or try and avoid) to your eight-year old lad or nephew what HIV or AIDS is if that was sung repeatedly? Absolutely disgraceful.

Christ if your eight year old is making the correlation between someone singing homophobic chants and HIV/AIDS then he needs no explaining from you?!!

Also after the Palarse play-off match whilst waiting in the bus queue we had a good 45 minutes of homophobic singing whilst they were held behind but I suppose because there were 2000 they are allowed because no one ever mentions that ???

Plus ca change!

This instance is merely totemic of a much wider piety about discrimination and human right related matters.

If the UK Govt and West really cared about such matters we would have sanctions against China and Russia, but we don't.

It's much easier to beat up the small fry..................it enables the simple minded to think that things are changing.
