Heskey was okay up to a couple of years ago but is now slow, injury prone and does not find the net very often, i am sure Villa would unload him for a small fee to get him off the books.
Trotter I am not aware of,surely not Rodney??

would be very happy with both but can't see how we can afford either - on Twitter we are being linked with Kieran Lee and Chris taylor of Oldham - much more realistic I think if not immediately having the wow factor.

Lee has won their top player awards for 2 years running and was the best full back I saw against us in League 1 last year. Taylor I'm less sure about - big midfielder but nothing outstanding then they played him further forward and he scored 11 goals this year.

Not going to win many fans over but more likely than the other two any day of the week

Taylor, back when he was attracting a bit of attention (around 2009-ish). Don't think he's really done a great deal the last couple of years, although could be a worthwhile gamble if he's available on a free. Never really stood out against us, from the times I've seen him at least, but always seemed quite an energetic midfielder, decent height on him - not sure how he'd fare in a 2-man CM though.

Kieran Lee I know less of, but they clearly seem to rate him - given his awards. Would like to see us snap up a decent young right-back, primarily to compete with Calde, but hopefully outshine him in the long-term. Another RB I would have suggested, if his team hadn't just romped the league, would be Charlton's Chris Solly. Obviously we need to be getting proven Championship quality, and I'm sure there will be a budget available to do so - but there are certainly bargains to be had from the division below.

Yeah, it was my dad that told me about Heskey.....

I'm currently trying to locate his source, I'm told he (Heskey, not my dad or his source) is currently househunting in Brighton.

I can confirm this. Emile is looking for a house in the Whitehawk area, but until he finds something suitable he is sheltering in my shed in Saltdean ,along with his girlfriend, her mother and his pet goat called Schnopplepops.

Based on Trotters performance against us ........... why isn't he playing at a higher level. He was like Yaya Toure that night. There must be something. If Gus can get that level of performance from him most weeks - sign him up. I can't help but think there is a story there.

Would everyone here have wanted Kevin Phillips last summer if available? of course you would?

Now, did you know, last season for Birmingham he scored ONCE all season.

So we all wanted a 37 year old striker who had scored ONE goal that season.

Heskey is 34. played for england at the last world cup in which he assisted our first goal, AND he scored 1 this season....yet no one wants HIM?

I don't get it.

He is apparently woefully inconsistent, which is why Millwall signed him from Ipswich. That said, he'd be worth having if Gus can solve that consistency issue as he was a MONSTER in that game at the Amex.

EH has played his entire career bar one season in the Premier League, he's a multi-millionaire and Leicester thru and thru. If he goes anywhere outside the Prem it'll be back home. He'd probably play there for next to nothing - and that would still be too rich for us.

Heskey would be huge in the Championship. Immense team player. He needs a new start, BRING IT ON!

We were told by Watford Buckley has one good game in 10.

that would tie with the fact that I saw him at Peacehaven v Whitehawk the other night having his photo taken next to Frankie Carrozza

By whom? I certainly never heard that.

There is a big difference between listening to the opinions of supporters who have just lost a decent player and the opinions of supporters whilst he is playing for that club. I went on HoF after our game with Millwall and they were all drooling at Trotter's performance but LOADS questioned why he couldn't play like that more often...
