Heskey would be a disaster. We need a goal scorer. Heskey is as prolific as Barn door Billy and at his age would not make sense. Trotter would be very welcome though.

I disagree completely.

Heskey would do ALL the donkey work (excuse the pun) to free up others to score.

Shola Ameobi looked UNPLAYABLE when we were against Newcastle. Would you call him a goalscorer?

I'm not disagreeing that we probably need another 'poacher', but imagine how much EASIER it would be for CMS if he's not expected to be the one holding up the ball. It would allow him to make runs away from the targert man.

I can't see how anyone can say that a current premier league player with loads of international experience wouldn't be good enough for our team. I'd think it a brilliant signing but unfortunately wages may be too high.

Is Heskey the new Michael Owen?

This could be 50 pages

the two of them together and i'd wet myself with joy. 50 goals in the championship i reckon. assuming one could keep Owen fit...

i tend to judge peoples ability to understand football and whats going on on the pitch by wether they like Heskey or not. he is an outstanding player and he only gets the poor opinions because he is nominally a striker. recast him as a midfielder/winger. he has good control, good in the air, good passing, can happily have the ball to feet or in the air, back to goal, running at players, general grafter... he's a rich mans Zamora, and i think we are all rather fond of him. as a foil for CMS i cant think of a better player. ask Micheal Owen of Liverpool and England days.

down side he's 34. but then that means we might actually get him because his big paydays are over. however, i reckon he's more likly to stay in the midlands/north. which is a shame for us.

They would both be great signings imo. Certainly add some much needed muscle to the side. Heskey is probably the best hold up English striker in a long time and Trotter looks a real box to box tank of a player, who chips in with half a dozen goals a season. Would be over the moon with both of these.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned Heskeys recent injury record. Even if this was possible how many games would we get out of him in a season. Mind you he would be strong competition for Barnes regarding who could obtain the most free kicks from falling over on their face.

Exactly he has to weigh up earning £7k a week or retiring a couple of years before he has to.

Heskey has always been underrated as a player imo. Owen was always a better player when they played alongside each other for England & his hold up play & skills have often been overlooked. Had this debate been four or five years ago, I would have been excited at the thought of him coming here. Not now. Too old & too much of a gamble.

This. Also, Heskey is Leicester through-and-through so if he was going to go to a Championship club I think going back there would be top of his list (assuming they wanted him)

I believe Heskey is on about 65k a week at Villa.... Wayyyyyy to much. But to be fair to him he has done a job for us when he has come on. It is not pretty or pleasing on the eyes but he does a great job at holding the ball up front for us. If Poyet is looking for a big man to hold the ball up than Heskey could fit the bill. But he has also been injured 3 times this season.....and he would need to take a massive pay cut.

What possible reason do you have to make such a wild claim? For Aston Villa to be paying any of their squad £65,000 a week is outrageous, but to even suggest they're paying that to Emile Heskey... Jesús, SURELY not?!

Not saying he's right, but somebody on here earlier posted a link to the fact that Villa were the 41st (?) highest wage sports team in the world or something, with an average salary of 40 odd thousand a week for first teamers. When you look down their squad, that really wouldn't suprise me.
