Falmer Work Start Ceremony

Just as a matter of interest, some questions for the people who think this event should be open to everyone who wants to come ...

How would you suggest that the contractors should apply the health and safety regulations that apply to ALL personnel who enter major construction sites?

How would you handle the car parking issue, given that there is NO public parking at the site?

Amazed at some of the comments re the open ceremoney, most 'openings' are invitation only and this one is no different. If you read the programme yesterday you will see the reasons why it cannot be an 'open to all'. All I would say is that there should be some special people invited like LB, The Henfield One who have done more than all of us towards getting Falmer and the rest of us who spent years doing various things can just take our chances in the ballot.

How many people can get time off in the week anyway? Still I might apply and then sell my ticket.

I've already offered an answer to that - just have a number of time slots throughout the day so that everyone gets to be there at some point. It's not going to take long, so you could easily have a group every hour until everyone is satisfied. Why wouldn't that work?
Reason number one ... Because there is no parking at Falmer, access to the site will be by bus from Withdean. Parking at Withdean is, in any event, very limited, because of the operation of the shoppers' park and ride service (which is very busy during the run up to Christmas).

The costs of running a shuttle bus service all day long, without any idea of how many people want to come, would be very high indeed.

I am edging anti some of the running of the club at the moment but with regards this issue I think they are spot on. I am sure that they will invite the selected few, the Falmer For All guys etc, and rightly so, and then what are they supposed to do just let it be an unorganised free for all??

I think the fact they are organising a ballet is good enough to represent the "real" support.

To have a go at this is just moaning for the sake of it.

If any one does get through the ballet can you check DK's wallet whilst you're there

there are 4 pots, with fans split up in to seeds, super fans will be seeded ONE, STH will be seeded TWO, Blue members seeded THREE, and keyboard warriors seeded FOUR

6 balls will be picked from each velvet bag, and 3 balls from bag ONE cannot be drawn together.

Fair enough, now define the seedings qualification young man.........

Fair enough, now define the seedings qualification young man.........

There are 3 qualifying rounds for those fans that are really fans of other teams, Brighton fans that have a Premiership team too, and Brighton fans that dont go to games, fans that think Leon Zamora was our greatest ever player, and members of NSC with less than 1000 posts

These people will be drawn at random by the first evicted of Im a Celebrity.

The lucky people will be drawn into the second qualifying round, where they will be joined by people that have been to less than 5 games at Withdean.

The people drawn out of this will then qualify for the actual ballot as FORTH seeds, this draw will be made by Nick Cave at the end of his gig tonight.

THIRD seeds will be fans that attended the Play Off final in 2004, as well as the West Ham away game, but have been to less than 10 games since.

SECOND seeds are all those that go to lots of games home and away, but are not STH. This is irrelevant if they go to lots of away games on Tuesday nights. They are not STH so automatically fail to qualify for seed ONE. All NScers with more than 10,000 posts are included in this group.

FIRST seeds are all STH, irrelevent if they go to away fixtures.

17 spots are reserved for Liz Costa, Sarah Watts and regulars of the Official Supporters bus. These 17 spots automatically qualify for the ceremony and will not be entered in to the ballot

The ballot will be drawn on December 2nd by Howard from the Halifax adverts and Dick Knight

I think this decision is a complete joke. We've been waiting for this moment for nearly 11 years, and only a handful will see the development underway. What absolutely ridicolous decision. I hope alot of us turn up, screw the damn ballot.

Have you not read anything that offers some sensible reasons why we can't all just turn up? Or do you propose that everybody turns up, parks wherever they can, causing all kinds of traffic chaos and contravene all health and safety regulations for a construction site?

I'd like to be there but it's likely to be a bit of an anti-climax so if I miss out I won't lose any sleep over it. I think I'd prefer to be present when the funding documents are being signed and the ceremonial cheque is handed over...

What about the perfectly good bus service? 25c I believe!

Or the Southern rail service to Falmer International station?

Who needs to arrive by car?
