Shocking thread, If we had been offered to be where we are now at the begginging having beat Saints 3-0 at the Amex, Played Liverpool twice home and away, Beat Newcastle and Sunderland at the Amex. We have played some brilliant football at times and played a few teams off the park.

Yep Poyet is clueless. :nono:

No, not clueless but hopefully will learn to be flexible in approach to games and know what your best team is. It's close and will go one if two ways won't it?

Best team is such an old fashioned load of bollocks. Different players have different attriutes to help the team and to hurt the opposition and you use your best players to exploit the opponents weaknesses.

You keep going on about wage bills El Pres almost as if the league sould be deceided on who spends the most.

I think you will find a correlation to be honest.

West Ham are the classic. They have gambled and I so hope it doesn't pay off and they go into adminastration, as it may then make the FA realise a 10 point deduction is no where near enoigh for these cheating clubs.

I agree with you, but they have a much better chance of going up than we do.

Fat Sam aka twat, said at the beginning of the season, Brighton are throwing silly money around over the CMS transfer, and thats why he came here. we all told the fat prick to f*** off. But Maybe theres a hint of truth in that.

They spunked £4 million on Vaz Te and Maynard in January, we signed Vokes on loan. Reading signed Roberts and the Stains Billy Sharp. All these were better than what we have as support for CMS.

After all, we turned down best part of £2m for a winger that has hardly played since, because we only play one winger at best, even though 4 of our best players are wingers!

I thought we were nuts to turn it down. Especially as you rightly point out we have plenty of wingers.

LuaLua comes in, flash of brilliance, as a dodgey half against Forst and isn't seen since. Jake Caskey comes in plays two blinders, scores twice in two, as a offish half against a premiership side chasing the champions league, and isn't seen since. Hardly does their confidence much cop. In a division where everyone is beating everyone, ie a very closely matched division, we have the players, we are just not playing them

KLL blows hot and cold, I would play him and Buckley every game because they excite me watching them, but Gus has got good results without resorting to that.

JFC scored a goal against the Stains, which was great, but didn't influence the game as much as you claim IMO.

I think this is a close division as you say, our woeful defeats at Coventry and Watford bear this out. I think our home form has disguised some of our shortcomings though, we have the second lowest number of shots for a reason, and the reason is that we are a bit pedestrian in places, but the fantastic work of GG marshalling the defence has meant we have kept plenty of clean sheets.

Carroll £35 million
Torres £50 million
Dzeko £20 million

5 league goals in 2012 in 32 league goals between them.

but thats not the question i was asking ive watched cms sitting on the shoulder of the last man screaming for the ball that never comes thats his strength and surely gus new this so why sign him if we dont play to his strengths thats the managers fault not the player , cms says he has to adapt to gus way of playing which i dont think he can so i ask the question why sign him if your not going to play his game and if his no good why are reading interested in him

When all you impatient, ungrateful fuckers get your way and Poyet walks.
I wonder Who will be the 1st to moan when we're watching Boothroyds seagulls in a half empty stadium?
That's right, you lot again.

"Ungrateful fuckers"? My thanks are to Tony bloom. None go to Gus - to him, it is just a job to feed his ego.

I don't like his boring style of play. It if foreign, and not something I am keen to watch. I like watching good old English attacking football. The OP summed up Poyet's style of play to a tee.

I would rather watch entertaining football in the Championship, than Gus' style of play in the Premiership. I want to go up one day - but only when we can afford players to give us entertaining football at that level - tippy-tappy is anything but entertaining for me.

I read a book about why England lose and stats were shown that seemed to suggest that the team that paid the most wages were more often than not the successful ones

I think Alex Ferguson would disagree with you. Tactical changes accepted, but it's a fine line between that and bizarre changes that you struggle to see why? 4 central midfielders against Burnley? (yes, I know Vicente is traditionally a winger, but not when he's played for us).

Gosh I wish we had some of the genius's on here in charge instead of Gus Poyet.

So many people here seem to have ALL the answers on how its all gone so badly wrong this season.

What an opportunity missed, not consulting the illumini of NSC eh.

People on here are fans. They don't need to manage the team. The team NEEDS TO ENTERTAIN THEM SO THEY KEEP COMING THROUGH THE GATES TO PAY FOR THE TEAM! People are simply starting to express their frustration at having to watch boring tippy tappy football - THIS IS ENGLAND - not some Latin country.

You must be on a wind up.

Seriously - you ARE on a wind up, right ?

I think we all need to remember that as far as management experience goes gus is very much a rookie. When you consider how little time he has been a manager his achievements are very impressive

He does have a stubborn streak which seems to frustrate some of our fans but we are all finding our feet at this level gus included

He has made some mistakes as you would expect and I am sure he will address the deficiencies in the summer

Why? Because I cannot stand continental football? Nope, I don't like to watch defenders pass the ball about aimlessly until it gets given away by a stray pass brought about by boredom. No passion, no aggression, NOT ENGLISH by nature.

So a diamond midfield is bizarre? Riiiiigght.... ok

The main deficiency is his own obstinate streak and lack of pragmatism. He needs to bend from his attempts to play like Barcelona - we will never be able to afford the players to do it! His poor man's version is like watching paint dry - and then ending up frustrated because there is a big run in it!

So you didn't enjoy last season, and this season has been a complete borefest has it ?

Absolute attention seeking drivel. Can't believe I read all 5 pages.

We came up from League 1 last year as champions, have had a reasonable budget for this season which was spent wisely. If we get lucky and make the play-offs then Gus has performed a miracle. If we finish anywhere between 8-12 then that's where I expected us to finish. Gus is laying the foundations for something spectacular in the next few seasons. Relax and enjoy the ride.

The problem with this board is people can be so myopic after one game and need to look at the bigger picture. Gus had suspensions for the Burnley game and maybe some other players weren't fit enough to start but were fit enough for the bench. So he may have decided not to risk them and save them for the Reading game. This is the first time Gus has been a manager at championship level, he is learning as he goes and we are knocking on the door of the play-offs. Imagine next season with a bigger budget, more players knowing about the rise of Brighton and Hove Albion and the brand of football that gets played here. This will ensure we attract a better quality of player to the club.

We've lost 3 games at home all season and every game is a sellout. We are just one point off the playoffs with 15 to play for. It is a work in progress. Stay away if it so boring to you as there are 3000 on the waiting list for your ticket.
Btw the Spanish type of football is so successful that they are world champions and there are 3 Spanish teams in the last 4 of the Europa Cup.

Depends what you enjoy watching I suppose. I enjoy watching us play and am glad we are adopting a progressive style. You only have to look at allardyce to see where the blood and guts approach gets you these days.

However I do feel gus has a fear or being too cavalier this season and would like him to take the hand brake off particularly as we have nothing to lose by having a good go for the rest of season
