You know If you don’t agree with all of the clubs policies people get jumpy and hark back to the shit days as reason to why you shouldn’t have an opinion that isn’t the clubs.
It’s a bit weird.
…and yet the post you refer to had nothing to do with the clubs policies whatsoever ….still let’s not that get in the way of a good ol moan eh

Exactly, thank you. Can't diss the club, err yes, I can. For all its brilliantness, their treatment of us fans sometimes is unacceptable.

For the last five minutes when we are chasing the game….not looking as if we would create much …against that type of defence …it’s desperate I’ll give you that ….but not unknown …..if he’d done that with half n hour to go….its a different matter imo
Fabby was getting desperate because he made a mess of the starting 11

Come on, it's bloody stupid no matter how you look at it. He's meant to be managing a top 10, European chasing side and he plays a CB up top, it's the stuff of Mark Mcghee in League 1 (much as I love the guy).
That was in the Championship, not League One (and Virgo pretty much single handedly kept us up, was a massively successful tactic, became our top scorer, leading us to get a hugely inflated £1.5m transfer fee from Celtic, at a time when we were in dire financial need).

I’d personally praise any manager who was proactive and trying to get points on the board above all else when chasing a game.

We couldn’t break down their low block, our wide players found their crosses easily being headed away by their giant centre backs. I can absolutely see why he wanted a physical presence in their box for the final 5 minutes. We’d have taken the proverbial goal off the ref’s arse at that point.

If West Ham can't get Duran and decide to go in at £57m for Fergie, he's gone. No way are the club turning down that sort of money.
I can see Duran being worth 57 million. But them offering the same amount for a player who’s hardly kicked a ball this season? Seems a real stretch that.

It’s a bit playground stuff, we had Joao Pedro in there, something was clearly wrong with the quality of delivery and slow movement of the ball. Whipping the same tired crosses into the box, was never going to change whether you had a Webster or Haaland in there. Surely a look at some of the more creative options to deliver high quality balls and passes into the box would have been better.

Agree to disagree then. Maybe bring on Ferguson, give him a chance/game time. It shows we lack options already.

Thanks for the correction. I was too young then so those years a bit blurry! Either way, CB up top is weird in the PL. Just my opinion.

I do feel like over the last few years for some fans this club has become more about transfers than actually developing talent. Are we just writing Evan off because we can bring in a shiny new toy, I don't find that particularly interesting, the whole point of building this academy was to build talent that would be here for years firing us to glory.
And we found one of the best young strikers to appear in this league. A player who seemed to have no obvious weaknesses.
We cannot let him go permanent anywhere imho.
This is about the whole bloody project. Not simply making a quick buck on players. You stick by your best players.

I agree it would be weird and worrying if we were starting that way, or ignoring legitimate goalscoring options on the bench instead of a centre-back. But it was just a throw of the dice, something to try and change the weather. Virgo was put up front even while we had fit strikers available, because they were both very small - and useless (Maheta Molango was particularly pony and weak) and we desperately needed a physical presence up top.

I remember previous Albion managers trying things over the years to counteract specific problems or offer a radical alternative.

He’s been reported as being injured (ankle), so wasn’t available. We had no strikers on the bench to bring on which weren’t already on the pitch (Rutter, at a push Minteh).

No, he's not picked for the squad. I think.
Well there lies some confusion……numerous posts saying they THINK he’s injured ….but obviously a lot who think not ……..which would tie in with any transfer/loan….must admit to not knowing why he has been out injured (that’s a definite)

ok…genuine question who would you have left out of the subs to be replaced by Ferguson if indeed he is fit

Unless he has some kind of health/injury issue which the club are not willing to gamble on I really fear that this one is going to come back to bite us if he’s sold. Still huge potential.

This post sums up my view …we differ obviously..but hey expressing opinions eh 😉
