But surely these ignorant pricks are making it an untenable position for ANYONE.
Whoever is in charge, we will fail to live up to the ridiculously inflated expectations of the media who claim every other Englishman who completes a pass in the Premiershite to be "World Class."
Then, the players will blame the manager for some reason or another. The last 2 sum it up perfectly. McLaren didn't have the track record, so the implication was always, well he's not really good enough. Then we get the man with one of the greatest track records of any manager anywhere, and suddenly it's because his English isn't good enough.
Bollocks. The players are nowhere near as good as most people tell them they are. they are so tuned into hearing only praise, and ignoring criticism, that they are virtually unmanageable, by a manager who doesn't hold a multi-million pound contract over his head anyway.
Best thing, if we bring someone new in, is for them to not pick any of the world cup squad, unless they performed (which really leaves just unused players, Ashley Cole and arguably Gerrard.
The new players won't be put off by the others who will have no history with the new manager, and we get rid of the underperforming players. Leave those who have retired in their own retirement, if they're so precious that they feel a starting place in the england team should be handed to them despite mediocre (at best) form from them, they don't deserve the effort to convince them back.
