But surely these ignorant pricks are making it an untenable position for ANYONE.

Whoever is in charge, we will fail to live up to the ridiculously inflated expectations of the media who claim every other Englishman who completes a pass in the Premiershite to be "World Class."

Then, the players will blame the manager for some reason or another. The last 2 sum it up perfectly. McLaren didn't have the track record, so the implication was always, well he's not really good enough. Then we get the man with one of the greatest track records of any manager anywhere, and suddenly it's because his English isn't good enough.

Bollocks. The players are nowhere near as good as most people tell them they are. they are so tuned into hearing only praise, and ignoring criticism, that they are virtually unmanageable, by a manager who doesn't hold a multi-million pound contract over his head anyway.

Best thing, if we bring someone new in, is for them to not pick any of the world cup squad, unless they performed (which really leaves just unused players, Ashley Cole and arguably Gerrard.

The new players won't be put off by the others who will have no history with the new manager, and we get rid of the underperforming players. Leave those who have retired in their own retirement, if they're so precious that they feel a starting place in the england team should be handed to them despite mediocre (at best) form from them, they don't deserve the effort to convince them back.

No subs, I'm afraid.

He should do it, just to piss off Fergie. But knowing the Premier League they will just postpone Man Utds fixtures to give them aextra time to rest before they playing Blackpool or summink

I totally agree that it was wrong to have Beckham as part of the "bench team" in South Africa.

However, Beckham still has a role to play as a player in the squad and I do beleive that an endorsement from Becks right now along the lines of " I back Cappello" would not only help Fabio but also get Becks some brownie points for more caps down the line and, more importantly, steady a ship seemingly rife with mutiny.

I realise Becks is 35 and probably not up to Euro '12 but the fact is we cannot take qualification for granted and need players who can do a job. Swiss away on a Tuesday night in September is a potential banana skin, and this rabble-rousing needs to end. I also think Rio should say something too.

the whole set up , currently is a f***ing JOKE....!!!

I disagree. I can't believe the criticism the FA and Capello is getting over these retirements. On the radio at lunchtime they were aghast that the players hadn't been phoned prior to the squad being announced to CHECK THEY WANTED TO PLAY! What the f*** is going on with these players today. Anyway, Robinson has been waiting to be recalled, as that was the moment he had planned to retire, he pretty much said so himself.

It's not the whole set-up, it the players!!! I just don't have the words to describe what I think of them. I'm there on Wednesday, and the atmosphere should be very interesting.

Capello's press conference was a bit of a joke.

Agree that the way things are going that he is starting to become the scape goat by the players who are going to sulk until he's sacked. The players don't want to look at themselves and their part in the WC fiasco, so target the manager.

You wonder whether Robinson's decision was contingent upon whether he was going to be Fabio's No. 1 keeper, and whether Robinson assumed he wasn't OR had the balls to ask before retiring.

Take a few eggs for them on my behalf, will you ?

It'll be sad for some of the lads making their debut to walk out to a chorus of boos.

I think it's very important that the booing is directed.

So, I won't boo as they come out, but I will probably vent my anger to certain players as they take their first touch in the game.

After that though, I'm there to support England, and see how the next England team is shaping up. I won't be booing anyone for very long .... well, maybe Ashley Cole. And John Terry.

I would LOVE it if Fabio got a tremendous reception, while players were booed. that would show everyone we are not fooled by anyone trying to blame the manager for why they could trap a bag of cement or pass water, throughout the World Cup.

The thing is Fabio had a bad World Cup too, so hardly deserves praise of any kind. Re the booing being directed, it's hard enough doing that to one or two players but eight or nine? The fans will be booing constantly in that case.

Maybe the players should come on one by one, just this once?!

I wish Capello would pick EVERY english player at Man Utd for the next qualifier just to f*** over Ferguson and get one back on him

But he wouldn't mind. Apparently.

It was good for players to build up their fitness," he said. "I don't know if Wayne and Park [Ji-Sung] are ready yet but the internationals in the coming week are a bonus for them and I'm delighted they are involved.

"We've got so many players away but having the [first Premier League] game [against Newcastle] on the Monday helps us.

"I don't think anyone can understand why we've got an international friendly before the season starts but we've been given a bit of luck through that."

Understand Robinson and Brown being hacked off - picking Green ahead of Robinson and Carragher instead of Brown was pretty shocking management given his insistance at picking players based on 'form'. Looks like they don't want to play for Capello. Worrying.

As easy as it is to blame the manager though, it looks like in this instance it's the players being self-centred IDIOTS.

The sooner we get rid of the Italian clown the better.

He has lost it big time.

You know at times you really are a something else, no doubt once Cappello is replaced you will demand the new managers head after one game! I am going to bounce a thread in a minute where you demand in March for the "clown" Cappello to pick Carragher and King for the WC squad which he did, if you read my responses everything I said about them happened i.e King got injured and couldn't play and Carragher was roasted alive and was unpickable after that.

You have slagged of Eriksson before (and almost undoubtedly McClaren) and now Cappello for the sake of slagging them off even when they do what you would do! Me thinks you do this to get a response!

When is it going to dawn on you, it is the overpaid players on the park playing in their "best league in the world" that can't pass the ball 10 yards to each other that are the problem and not the manager.

I know what you're saying, but the players (and the media who don't know what to do if all these players they have labelled as "World Class" are now not) are the ones trying making it all his fault.

Well, sorry, if I have to choose who to back, I choose the man who has won Leagues everywhere he has ever managed. he doesn't know failure ... until he tried to manage this mob.

It's not hard to direct the booing when it comes to their first touch. Whether it's Sol Campbell going back to Spurs, or John Terry against Man City last season. You know it's coming, and there is no doubt who the booing is being aimed at.

I'm underwhelmed by such stars as Wes Brown and that chap Robinson whose first name I forget, "quitting" international football. I mistakenly thought that you had to be a regular international in order to retire ? I don't think they will be missed....

Still at least they are English, rather than the German model of an assortment of Poles, Mexicans, Brazilians, Ghanians and a few decent young Germans.

Whatever, it does not alter the fact England are f**king useless. Besides, this argument only holds for the past few years. There are still another 40 odd years when England were equally useless and the Germans were successful and, um, more German.

Folk are slowly coming round to my way of thinking about England, when the critical mass is reached and things change you'll thank me :)
