England national team farce - Wes Brown joins Robbo

Robinson particularly, "boo hoo I don't like being picked for the squad and not playing, I'm going home" and as for his "I couldn't retire before now as I wasn't selected" just what the f*** is that all about.

It's about column inches. The second most important fix for players today behind money. If he retires when not selected no-one bats an eyelid, but suddenly he's the experienced name in the post-James era, and NOW we notice the announcement. Pathetic!

Similar with Wes Orange. Why not "retire" when he was left out of the World Cup squad? Because again, no-one would have paid much attention amid the pre-WC excitement. But now, of yes, far more fun now, as people talk about him.

I couldn't give a shit. If anything, I'm pleased with flushed out a couple more players who don't have the character to succeed.

Unfortunately there is a campaign/agenda/witch-hunt against Capello, and objective coverage is out of the window.

That is not just tabloids either. People like Henry Winter had a terrible World Cup, calling virtually every tactical and selection decision wrong in advance.

These people have egos, and expect both to know in advance everything the England manager does (Capello didn't tell them) and also be able to influence weak-minded managers with their opinions (Capello isn't, and wasn't). As a result Winter called for Capello to be sacked by the FA (also ignored) and now will bash him at every opportunity. It's pathetic, really.

I think it's very important on Wednesday night that Capello get's a good reception from the fans and the booing (let's face it there WILL be) is reserved for the likes of John Terry and Wayne Rooney who strolled out there full of ego and self-importance and stank the place out this summer.

Show the players that we back the manager, as it's become all too easy for under-performing players to hide behind a manager, letting him take all the flak.

Apparently it's now because of Capello's lack of command of the English language, and his inability to communicate with the players. Well we tried an English speaking manager and he couldn't get this group of players qualified. We slated him for being rubbish, but the job he subsequently did in Dutch football proved that it wasn't that.

Maybe, just maybe Mr Winter et al, YOU guys have it wrong when you label so many of these average players as "World Class", when they are clearly not.

I honestly think he is a clown. Some of the fundemental things i expect from a competant England manager he cannot grasp.

He cant speak english still, he has no relationship with any player, and the new squad is laughable. Now capped of with players pulling out lef right and centre.

This is just the start more will follow in my opinon, now the dust is settling after the WC

Yoiu dont need to be bloody Shakespear to communicate with a footballer. His grasp of English seems adequate to me. The new squad laughable? They're the best this nation can provide and sadly they are lacking.

Cashley blanks Capellos handshake after the game. He later claims he "lost his footing after climbing the steps and was looking at the ground" - yeah, right Cashley. Course.

article-1301389-0ABAB2D1000005DC-809_468x286.jpg

Capello says to Carrick "I thought you were injured". Fergie then later says "I can only apologise, I was certain he was out for two weeks then he came and said he was fit."

Then you get Brown and Robinson giving him the finger after he's called them up. Its falling apart at the seams now, and I'm starting to think Capello's position has become untenable. He is having to work with a bunch of GOONS who couldn't give a flying f*** about England, and are now quite openly taking the piss out of him.

The guy has had success everywhere he has worked - everywhere except with England. That speaks VOLUMES - not about Capello, but about the flids and wasters we've now got representing (or turning their backs on) their country. They should be very proud.

I can only agree. The players clearly don't like him, and don't care about playing for their country any more. I really do think he might have to go. I don't want him to, I backed him after the WC debacle, but this situation can't carry on. I just don't know who would take over. Pearce??

£6m a year, don't have to put up with Brown or Robinson, don't have to give Ashley Cole the time of day, I would love that job.

It is, however difficult if you have pride in what you do, but is £6m enough to buy his pride? Capello knows he can sit out his contract, going through the motions, at the end of it most people who count will know his failings at England were not his fault, and he'll have no trouble getting another job.

This untenable position, then, comes down to the FA. Can they afford to get rid of him? Can they afford to keep him? Who would take his place? Do the FA want to be dictated to by a bunch of mediocre players (i.e. robinson, brown, carrick), or will they take a hard line like France and Scotland did with their players?

I really hope the fans get behind Capello, maybe then the FA would follow suit, and some of the younger players will get a chance and even if they don't initially see it as an honour, see it as a way to advance their careers in ways they can't at club level.

Same here - I didn't want him to go either. But whats the point of him staying, when the players don't want to play for him ? I suppose they want an easier ride, a sycophantic manager who treats them like mates and acknowledges them for the "world class" players that they think they are.

Its a desperate state of affairs now, and a damning indictment of the pricks and prima-donnas we've got ourselves lumbered with.

Absolutely. Not that it will be seen that way of course.

Oh why not. We've tried this 'skill' malarky and it hasn't got us anywhere so we might as well go all the way back to the Dark Ages and just concentrate on the things we're good at: passion, committment, long balls and 100% effort. Obviously we'll still win f*** all - but then we never have. However I think some people would be happier. I wouldn't but some would be.

Still at least they are English, rather than the German model of an assortment of Poles, Mexicans, Brazilians, Ghanians and a few decent young Germans.

Off the top of my head here's a group of players who think Cappello is an idiot:

Terry
Ashley Cole
Joe Cole
Carrick
Brown
Robinson
Scholes

I suspect Walcott, Carragher, Rooney and Crouch might also have words to say.

Basically, all of the press and half of the senior players in the squad have got issues with Cappello. I can't see how he can turn this situation around.

This is why every other country sacks their manager when they under-achieve at a World Cup. It was a mistake not to sack Cappello.

Again I agree with you, but maybe, rather than changing the manager (yet again), there is an alternative: don't pick the pricks and prima-donnas. Have an England team composed of people who maybe aren't considered to be world classs (like Zamora) and who maybe have a point to prove. Can't be any worse.

In all fairness the ones you say he has fallen out with, with the exception of Ashley Cole, would be no lose.

Rooney would be a bigger issue.

The players talk to one another though. Even good managers can "lose the dressing room" and that's the point I think we've reached.

Cappello could do with a public message of support from Beckham at this juncture, because he's just about the one England player over 30 that still commands any respect.

Utterences from His Royal Beckness in favour of Capello would make bugger-all difference. In fact, he's already come out and said that the South Africa debacle was down to the players and not Capello.

I suspect many of them thought it was a bit of a joke having Beckham suited and booted on the bench. I certainly did anyway, so I don't think Beckham would garner any respect from the current mob.

But surely these ignorant pricks are making it an untenable position for ANYONE.

Whoever is in charge, we will fail to live up to the ridiculously inflated expectations of the media who claim every other Englishman who completes a pass in the Premiershite to be "World Class."

Then, the players will blame the manager for some reason or another. The last 2 sum it up perfectly. McLaren didn't have the track record, so the implication was always, well he's not really good enough. Then we get the man with one of the greatest track records of any manager anywhere, and suddenly it's because his English isn't good enough.

Bollocks. The players are nowhere near as good as most people tell them they are. they are so tuned into hearing only praise, and ignoring criticism, that they are virtually unmanageable, by a manager who doesn't hold a multi-million pound contract over his head anyway.
