‘Pigs in Blankets’ ? – another Americanism creeping in. What’s wrong with old fashioned sausage rolls.

I always thought 'pigs in blankets' where what you had a Christmas.

Like so...

Well the Albion really need to push the boat out on non match day events to make a decent profit then.So what are these non match day events that will be held at Falmer? The club can only use Falmer once a year for a concert which seems bloody stuipid. What others?

Standard business conferences? Jesus Christ, stadia such as the Reebok at Bolton make just as much money from selling business conferences and meeting rooms as they do from football match attendances!

What are you on about now?

He's pointing out, as anyone who has read the thread will have seen, that you were amusingly wittering on without a scooby, and then claiming it's what you said all along! You said 'It might be the case the club are paying the contractors'. That alone shows you don't know what you are on about. Not that it ever stops you, mind..if you're out of your depth, best to sit the thread out, it's a good rule of thumb. You didn't have the faintest idea what you were on about, so don't try and put others down.

DKM, it's not all up to the caterer, we'll have input. Where these things work well, it is a proper partnership. The caterers know food, we know football and our fans. They'll have regular meetings and thrash it out. In practise, it'll probably be deciding what is the most they think they can get away with at every level, from the fine dining down to the concessionaires outside.

Lets be honest here and if you snapped up one of those expensive platinum seats in the 1901 club, wouldn't you be a little disappointed in this deal?
You would have thought the Albion would have gone for an established company with an excellent track record as they did bang on about the fine dinning etc in there recent video. They were really nailing home about being a member of the exclusive 1901 club and how up market it was going to be etc.

This is banquet catering not fine dining and Elior are pretty good - one of the better stadium caterers in France and from what I have seen at Forest, Oldham and Brentford their concourse catering is okay - quick service, good products, and pricing no worse than most others

So by your rules... others are allowed to speculate about things, and I'm not?

Cheers. You're right, I'll sit the rest of this out.

Sounds fair enough. Let's hope it does work well.

You lot go blithering on with your assumptions about this and that getting knickers in a twist etc. Alternatively you could ask a question from someone in this game who knew 6 months ago that Elior (a fine catering company) would be getting this contract and I'll do my best to help! But honestly, calm down. It's a contact you'd expect the Albion to be putting out given the leap we're about to make!! :albion2:

Indeed. Are you able to explain in simple terms please.

My guess is that there will be a captive audience at Falmer (football crowds, 1901 club folk, conference etc etc) and there is therefore a catering requirement. We have awarded a company the right to supply food and drink so we don't have to. In return, they pay us a fixed sum of money (£18m) for a five year contract. They charge what they can (within constraints agreed by the club) and make the best margin possible. We get ficed income, they get a potentially very big audience. Everyone is happy.

Anywhere near?

Honestly, most of us actually don't give a shit about the catering in hospitality, as I consider myself unlikely to be going to a conference at Falmer any time soon. And in any case, corporate catering is nearly always pretty crap anyway: fairly bland, mass produced menus- they can't do it any other way if they're going to keep their costs down.

The worst corporate catering I ever had the misfortune to consume was at Brighton Races. Overcooked, rubbery and tasteless, pretty much every single thing they served. If you want Gordon Ramsay food, go to Gordon Ramsay. If you want an unexciting and bland buffet for 100 piggy business types, then go to any conference venue in the country. I very much doubt ours will be any different :lolol:
