PS I think Chelsea have a Marco Pierre White restaurant at Stamford Bridge these days.

Perhaps we could aim higher and see if Heston Blumenthal wants to open a Falmer concession...

Can I have a bowl of chips please? Ooh, and a chocolate-covered dormouse - they look nice! Cheers.

Nah, it being a football ground you'd still get the same shit food, it would just be stacked nicely on a black slate with a smear of some kind of sauce around it and a dusting of icing sugar for effect.

Nah - I think Heston would still do his stuff. So you WOULD get the chocolate dipped dormouse and the cow's brain jelly, but it would be served in a polystyrene box, with a wooden fork.

Jesus, I've just had the full PM treatment from TLO. I am SO tempted to put it up here, it's a War and Peace character assassination far better than an uber-flounce - but it just wouldn't be right...propriety prevents me...

You can't dangle that kind of preverbial carrot in front of us and then now allow us to eat it!

That's cruel, very cruel  :jester:

Just PM it to me. I can read it and decide if its good enough to put up here. NOT, that I would put it up. I just, you know, wanna read it. :)

I think it's the bit where he likened me to the bastard lovechild of Adolf Hitler and Simon Jordan where I got a bit upset. I hate Palace, it's such a slur.

He's pointing out, as anyone who has read the thread will have seen, that you were amusingly wittering on without a scooby, and then claiming it's what you said all along! You said 'It might be the case the club are paying the contractors'. That alone shows you don't know what you are on about. Not that it ever stops you, mind..if you're out of your depth, best to sit the thread out, it's a good rule of thumb. You didn't have the faintest idea what you were on about, so don't try and put others down.

DKM, it's not all up to the caterer, we'll have input. Where these things work well, it is a proper partnership. The caterers know food, we know football and our fans. They'll have regular meetings and thrash it out. In practise, it'll probably be deciding what is the most they think they can get away with at every level, from the fine dining down to the concessionaires outside.

Spot on. And for all those who still need reminding because ive said this on many similar threads before..... I sat down at work and worked out the typical net profit on a cheeseburger costing 3.50 to be about 3.20. That's what the Market can bear so you see why big bucks are soon changing hands like this contract. In short footy fans lap up shit food at expensive prices on the whole. Eliot will hopefully give greater value for money but don't expect prices to go down. Likely as much that they'll go up significantly especially given global grain crisis currently; knock on from that's likely to be around still come next season

Honestly, most of us actually don't give a shit about the catering in hospitality, as I consider myself unlikely to be going to a conference at Falmer any time soon. And in any case, corporate catering is nearly always pretty crap anyway: fairly bland, mass produced menus- they can't do it any other way if they're going to keep their costs down.

The worst corporate catering I ever had the misfortune to consume was at Brighton Races. Overcooked, rubbery and tasteless, pretty much every single thing they served. If you want Gordon Ramsay food, go to Gordon Ramsay. If you want an unexciting and bland buffet for 100 piggy business types, then go to any conference venue in the country. I very much doubt ours will be any different :lolol:
Yeah, the worst corporate 'do' I ever went on was at Brighton Racecourse. Truly disgusting food. Hove Dog Track runs it a close second. What IS it with these animal ventures? Maybe they mix up the human and animal feeds ...

You're quite right about the catering in the Amex hospitality, it doesn't matter to the likes of us. I hope it's brilliant and I hope the people in there really enjoy themselves.

Slightly off topic. Do the company have the tenders for all catering outputs (IE food and drink) Be interested to see what beers/alcoholic beverages etc the other clubs they supply to offer

now that is very strange.

i heard Azure catering had won the contract. We tried to interview them for the last fanzine but they weren't up for it.

makes sense now but the catering press certainly published the Azure story some time ago.

Says in The Argus today that Azure have won it - contract to be signed soon. They must be a subsidiary - unless Elior blew it at the end.
