Your original question seemed to be a statement with a question mark at the end.

IF it's the case that Elior / Azure has won the contract by tendering for it and giving the Albion the dosh to have exclusive catering rights in hospitality / 15 kiosks / private boxes, then yes, there is a similarity between that, and Sky giving money to the Premier League for its exclusive broadcasting rights.

Is that what you wanted me to say?

I wanted to know if 18mill went out of the club or came in.I thought it came in but since done a u-turn on it as i now firmly believe it doesn't.I just wanted you to clarify that point but you blatantly avoided replying as you didn't have a clue yourself and so ignored my question wisely.

If they paid out £60M how much did they get back?

That I don't know. I just assume that they get all of the catering revenues. I assume that the money comes in over the length of the contract rather than up front - I didn't notice £60m of talent on our pitch in THAT season.

I don't care for all that poncy food anyway, we've got a Greggs at Pride Park, now that's quallity....

Well ...yeah (except I'm a veggie and wouldn't want KFC OR the gourmet bollocks)
Actually I think KFC, in line with the other popular fast food outlets, do a veggie burger of some sort. And to answer your next question, yes it may well be crap - but hopefully it won't set you back a tenner.

'Blatantly avoided...' 'Didn't have a clue...'. Blimey, you're getting your knickers in a twist.

Seeing as I'd already said I didn't know, of course I couldn't answer it, and I'd have only continued speculating.

I'm sure that it was Elior making the announcement and it was a contract that they have won.

I don't think that would correct. More like the club would receive x amount from the caterers who then come in charge what they want (in agreement with the club clearly) for the food and take the profits with maybe an extra on top for the club if they achieve certain sales figures. Other way round and the caterers have no incentive to increase their profits and merely become an employee of the club which would not make much business sense from either perspective.
Obviously I may be wrong just can't see the club paying out a huge amount in the hope they make it back with out any incentive on the other side because they have already got their money

Please, can we just accept the fact that the club are not PAYING anything. Zero, zilch, nada. The caterers have won a contract to provide food for lots of money, for which THEY will pay for the rights. They may have had to pay at the tender stage, or annually, or a percentage of turnover annually, or two of those, or all three. If Elior have won, it may be because they promised to pay the club more than some competitors.

You lot go blithering on with your assumptions about this and that getting knickers in a twist etc. Alternatively you could ask a question from someone in this game who knew 6 months ago that Elior (a fine catering company) would be getting this contract and I'll do my best to help! But honestly, calm down. It's a contact you'd expect the Albion to be putting out given the leap we're about to make!! :albion2:

Finally, someone with some sense. Honestly, I feel like sending this to Elior for their amusement!!

Doesnt mean much to me this news.

I'm pretty sure what ever we get served up will be at premium prices and I can't imagine it will be mitchillen star quality.

But then I am only there for the football and beer so couldnt give a monkeys

Ave 15,000 crowd x 23 matches x 5 years = 1.725m people through the door.

£18m represents just over a £10 per person per match for food and drink spend. Not everyone will do that, but the 1,300 'posh seats' members may well be coughing up £40 or more per person each on food.

And this doesn't include non-football events.

Just roughly, like.

Yeah food is extra. Everyone who signs up knows this.

It's not big news.

So please explain the workings of this contract. Who is receiving the £18M and what will they provide in return?

‘Pigs in Blankets’ ? – another Americanism creeping in. What’s wrong with old fashioned sausage rolls.
