Naah, real fans go for the football not for something to eat
Oh yeah, but IF you wanted something to eat you'd obviously want a KFC and not that gourmet bollocks. Stands to reason.

Not at all. It was the catering company that announced the contract and BHA will be paying them the money for the food that they will serve to the fans. It looks like they will also be providing food for other non-football events that are run by the club. This £18M is going out of the club, not in.

Can we have a Stewards' Inquiry on that one?

If that's the case, that is a hell of a lot of money going out. As I said, that's £10 per person (assuming a 15,000 average) that the club is paying to the caterers. Bearing in mind the profit margins required, just how much would the fans be paying for their food?

Are you sure that the contract is geared that way?

Fair enough.Seems alot of money and a risky gamble to me if people decide to stick to common burger and chips on match days. The club still have around 380 posh seats to flog yet.
I'm just suprised they didn't pull all stops out to snap up "Compass" instead.A very well known leading British catering company to really set the club apart from others.Oh well time will tell if Tony has got it right.

I wondered why you ignored my original question about that as you didn't have a clue yourself. ???

The announcement was definitely that Elior had won 'scored' the contract. However, it's quite possible that the total contract value is stated as 'all in' - to include all possible income based on a projection of non-football events too. Reading their statement it certainly seems like that. It's quite likely that they didn't sign an £18M contract, but they expect to reach that value over the period.

Your original question seemed to be a statement with a question mark at the end.

IF it's the case that Elior / Azure has won the contract by tendering for it and giving the Albion the dosh to have exclusive catering rights in hospitality / 15 kiosks / private boxes, then yes, there is a similarity between that, and Sky giving money to the Premier League for its exclusive broadcasting rights.

Is that what you wanted me to say?

It may be, as is often the case, that the caterer collects the money from the various outlets and the Club gets a percentage of turnover.

Also possible that, in addition, the caterer will be paying an upfront premium to hold the concession.

I can't believe that the Club will be paying the caterer anything.

That to me still doesn't necessarily follow that it's the club paying the contractors (it might be the case, it might not).

We are speculating here, and probably the best thing is that we wait until the club makes a statement. We ought to get some clarity then.

I don't know what the contract is, but presumably it will be either an annual fee for the rights, or more likely a percentage of the annual takings to the club. The better the incentivised caterer does, the better the club does - and they work together as partners on things the fans care about. Not complicated.

I'm sure the caterers pay the club and then collect the revenues. Certainly at Derby, Delaware North paid the club £60m for the "privilage" in 2008.

Well the Albion really need to push the boat out on non match day events to make a decent profit then.So what are these non match day events that will be held at Falmer? The club can only use Falmer once a year for a concert which seems bloody stuipid. What others?

No, I think this is a contract for the supply of catering for all hospitality, conferencing and banquetting requirements. As such, the club will be charging their own prices for these meals. Of course, this could be built into a match ticket price (perhaps for those in private boxes). The other catering outlets (ie the infamous KFC) will be a separate deal.
