Day dreaming today whilst strimming, I wondered what football supporters could do to help get people talking about these threats towards our democratic society. I wondered if a grassroots organisaton (Fans Against Fascism?) could arrange for banners to be held up in the stands at games up and down the country pledging support for Ukraine and denouncing the coup in America. I'm sure Lineker couldn't resist discussing. 😉

If the thing was going to be done properly the FA, Football League and Prem would get together and have a joint 'Fans For Ukraine' weekend with collection buckets and where scarves would be sold in Ukrainian colours and fans would be encourage to wear yellow and blue. All proceeds to go to charities assisting Ukraine.

Yeah that will work, millions marched on the street in support of Palestine, Netanyahu still carried on obliterating homes and killing thousands.

The FA & Premier league would not sanction such a thing, millions of people watch in the USA and although a perfect target audience, fear of losing revenue would deter such a sanction to go head.

Further more, it would probably piss Trump off and drive him closer to Putin and give him even more reason to turn a blind eye to Europe.

Unfortunately money governs almost everything in football nowadays. Plus, more than half of EPL teams are either majority US-owned, or have significant US investment. There's absolutely no way that the Premier League would agree to something likely to piss off Trump and his cronies. Any protest would have to be fan-led (eg: Celtic fans and their pro-Palestine protests).

It's an absolute disgrace. European countries must all stand up to Trump and vociferously defend Zelensky and Ukraine.

If you speak out against the President - you lose your job. Look at the FBI and others who investigated the Jan 6 stuff. It's that simple now. And just what a dictator does.

And they have the temerity to lecture Europe on free speech.
Did fbi bods get the ton tack?

If it could include the fascist threats from Trump and Netenyahu in Israel (which is as relevant as Ukraine, America and elsewhere) and all forms of fascism, I wouldn't be against it.

But our Government is also making it more difficult to protest, particularly against their policies, so a far fetched dream while strimming I fear @GoldstoneVintage

He did defend putin during in the election campaign, it didn't seem to discourage his supporters at all, maybe they were unaware
I accept that the people who give money to Farage's private company are unaware of many things.
And the average punters who vote for him are unaware of most things....
and yet imagine they know everything about all things.

Such is the delusion of the determined f***-nut and arse-hat.

Unfortunately UK is most likely next. Reform will win a protest vote next general election and another Putin's asset will take over here. Brexit was already an example of that.
The potential risk of this is why we need PR instead of FPTP. Reform could credibly get a popular vote in the low 30s that translates to a majority. They’ll never get close to 50% though.

I seem to remember it cost him a couple of % in subsequent polls and he back peddled a fair bit.

Sounding to me from discussion that at some point Farage may need to decide between two fascists, unless there's space for both.
Wonder which one he'll go for.....

How out of touch is out shortest ever PM.

Liz Truss now saying 'We want a Trump revolution in Britain and we want Elon and his nerd army of Muskrats examining the deep state'

Hopefully I'm not a lone voice but NO we don't, it was bad enough when Truss and Johnson were in charge, this would be whole lot worse.
