There’s none so blind as those who will not see.

Sadly lots of white males under the age of 45, who don't feel the world has paid them all they are owed, and find the siren call of the likes of Trump intriguing, are not bothered by collateral damage.

It may surprise you that support for Trump in the white vote was almost equal between men and women. 54 percent of white men voted Trump as opposed to 52 percent of white women.

I always have to double take when I see "The far right in Israel"

I do not understand the blurry lines...

Musk claims only the AfD can save Germany and not to bogged down by German past.
Netanyahu defending Musk and that heartfelt "salute" and calling him a friend.

It is pretty clear to me which side of politics Musk is on, why would Israel entertain such a person, Musk would surely wipe them out given half a chance. It seems to me he wants the rise of the right across the world, he is a very, very dangerous man.

Fascism has become a welcoming ideology, no longer rooted in racism.
It is now a simple doctrine of mocking, vilifying, subjugating and, if necessary, killing anyone who disagrees with you.
Racism is tolerated but it is largely seen as a weakness now.
It is all about Winning.
As long as you are a winner, you're in.

Added to that, Musk, the AFD and the Israeli right are all ethnonationalists

The hollowing out of the media continues in the US. Softer critics of the Donald from now on

Jim Acosta resigning doesn’t surprise me.

He had a torrid time under Trump’s last Presidency. Trump humiliated him frequently at White House pressers with his rallying of the left wing press (well all the ‘fake news’ press except Fox and Brietbart). Acosta’s access to the White House was eventually withdrawn because he challenged Trump in one of his pressers. His access was reinstated under Biden but once you lose access in Washington, it is impossible to be the lead political correspondent for a major news outlet and Trump knows this.

White House daily press conferences were also stopped under Trump’s last administration and were reduced to 5 minute statements from the President on the lawns of the WH when he had something to say and individual members of the press continued to be harangued and targeted by Trump’s mockery and abuse.

It doesn’t surprise me that some prominent journalists are balking at going through that again.

However the freedom of the press to scrutinise political leadership has always been regarded as one of the key pillars of a liberal democracy so Trump ‘closing down’ opposition voices in the media by intimidation, bullying and removing WH press cards is another red flag.

Not sure how many red flags need to be waving before the world realises the US is no longer even trying to be liberal democracy but under Trump is becoming a full blown authoritarian, plutocracy.

Feels all a bit 1933, bit by bit the pillars of democracy are being dismantled. The American population are boiling frogs.

The places to get news and information not comprimised by Trump are getting fewer and fewer. The New York Times is one of those places

There is a balance between sending people who break the law back to their native nations and targeting whole communities. If Trump gets this wrong, and it looks like he's going to, then long-term this would be catastrophic for Republican Party, as they can't just rely on White male votes as that is a shrinking base.
