Trump facing a backlash from Human Rights groups today after his comments at the weekend on Gaza:

I hate ‘I told you so’s’ but those who have been following this sorry fcukwit’s political career dating back to his first administration, will tell you that Trump’s support for Netanyahu and the far right expansionist agenda of the Israeli Government if he were to win a second term was entirely predictable and that he would continue to support the illegal occupation of the West Bank and Gazan strip by supporting settlement expansion and annexation.

But nobody could have predicted that even Trump as POTUS would blatantly advocate ethnic cleansing …

’Ethnic cleansing!!??’ Surely not, people say.

But what is it when extreme far right members of the Israeli Government make proposals like these which are becoming part of the national mainstream dialogue and the President of the United States agrees with them?

“We must promote a solution to encourage the emigration of the residents of Gaza,” far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on January 1.

Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who also holds a position in the Defense Ministry, says that Israel “will rule there. And in order to rule there securely for a long time, we must have a civilian presence.”

And the President of the United States in full support, makes propositions like this?

”You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing and say: ‘You know, it’s over.’”

Trump’s policy on the ME if it wasn’t clear to everyone before he was elected, should be clear now - he is a political and financial opportunist and would even go as far as facilitating ethnic cleansing apparently to serve his own end.

I dread to think what plans he has in store for Ukraine - property deals with Russian Oligarchs to develop large swathes of illegally annexed territory in the Donetsk?

As Hitler said:

”Give me part of Czechoslovakia and it will end there”

And to think only a week ago we had usually credible journalists using expressions like “Trumps silver lining” over the ceasefire.

The far right in Israel have been hanging out for this moment. They’ve got their man

I always have to double take when I see "The far right in Israel"

I do not understand the blurry lines...

Musk claims only the AfD can save Germany and not to bogged down by German past.
Netanyahu defending Musk and that heartfelt "salute" and calling him a friend.

It is pretty clear to me which side of politics Musk is on, why would Israel entertain such a person, Musk would surely wipe them out given half a chance. It seems to me he wants the rise of the right across the world, he is a very, very dangerous man.

To hate others in the way the Nazi’s did, doesn’t mean you have to hate the same people the Nazi’s did.

Musk is obviously on the far right or the Fascist side of politics, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he genuinely did revere the Nazi’s and their symbols etc. That doesn’t mean his target has to be Jews or Israeli’s though. If he and Israel find they have some common enemy, they will go for them and they won’t be thinking about the past.

Sadly as we have seen, people can easily be living with outrage at their own past persecution, whilst being happy to persecute others. This isn’t Nazi Germany, the enemy doesn’t have to be the Jews this time.

I understand that, but we know that one particular target soon becomes, two, three and before you know it, you are on the list.

I agree, but I guess that Israel are entertaining him now because they have a common enemy or goal, and that this time think they are allies with him, not opposition and don’t think they be on his list anytime soon.

They might even be right, because today even the AfD are probably now more concerned about hating the migrants in Germany than the Jews or Israeli’s. Musk probably is as well, migrants in the USA. That’s what they see as the current threats. So yeah, he can do his Nazi salutes all he wants, but what is he saying to these people behind closed doors?

No proof either way at the moment but is there really much difference? As a regular English man in the US if I so much as overstayed my visa I wouldn't exactly be expecting the red carpet treatment on the way back and probably some stiff interrogation.
So why did you post 'they are convicted criminals subject to deportation orders.'?

His use of the word "clean" in his "clean out the whole thing" reference to Gaza shows that he is quite aware that his suggestion amounts to "ethnic cleansing".

He doesn't even appear to feel the need to cloak his true intentions in more ambiguous and less inflammatory language. I don't know if that's because of his limited vocabulary or simply because he just doesn't care and believes that promoting a policy of ethnic cleansing is acceptable.

Its essentially what he's doing now in the US with his mass deportations. It has nothing to do with them being illegal migrants or "criminals" or "from insane asylums" and more to do with the colour of their skin, and its currently the only legal way he can ethnically cleanse the US.

Do we need to wait for the rest of the stories or shall we just take ICE's word for it ?

ICE

Since Trump signed his executive order on birthright, which still has to be ratified by Congress, native Americans have been threatened. A Navajo man was detained in Phoenix, and released the next day.

Forgive me if I take no notice of what ICE do or say.

Whataboutery.

This is the guardian story where nygren urges his people to carry ID, which seems pretty sensible. As for detainee stories ,would need the context. Rather than hearsay!

You are treading on very thin ICE if you think defending ICE is going to win you a moral argument on forced expulsions.

For every ‘criminal’ you can come up with, there are numerous examples of poor treatment and injustices that ICE has inflicted on people simply because they are undocumented. (eg Guardian link below)

Before being so cavalier in your support of Trump’s immigration raids into sanctuary cities (disproportionately affecting the poor ) perhaps it is worth mentioning that deporting undocumented adults impacts the children of those migrants who were born in the US. Trump giving ICE authority to raid schools and churches rolls back decades of protection in ‘sensitive areas’ for children of undocumented migrants.

Whatever you think about ‘illegal immigration’, the only illegal activities many deportees are ‘guilty’ of is that they are undocumented. Even those who pay taxes, work hard, and contribute to their communities have no way to “get in line” unless Congress creates a new pathway to legal status and constantly live under the fear of deportation even if they have lived in the US for decades.

I’m curious about your use of ‘regular’ in that sentence. What additional information do you think it brings?

Fascism has become a welcoming ideology, no longer rooted in racism.
It is now a simple doctrine of mocking, vilifying, subjugating and, if necessary, killing anyone who disagrees with you.
Racism is tolerated but it is largely seen as a weakness now.
It is all about Winning.
As long as you are a winner, you're in.
