That's thorough, and Greg Clark and Jeremy Hunt have both been impressive of late, but they've only allowed Cummings three days to provide a fair bit of information, and that's assuming that he received the letter on the day it was written.

Hancock getting it again from Cummings

However, what's more amusing is Johnson's apparent reliance on Cummings for guidance and the language he uses :lolol:

Cummings is really just demonstrating what a snake he really is. As senior adviser he had frank discussions with the PM and has just shown he can’t be trusted. Not sure anyone will ever work with him again.

I think Johnson knew exactly what kind of snake Cummings really is and how much he can/t be trusted before he employed him; you reap what you sow.

Cummings was always going to have the receipts.

There will be more in his locker.

its funny how the tweet focus on the political personality, completely overlooking the reliance on Cabinet Office to get anything done, and they didnt seem to deliver.

Time for The Automatic to dust off an old standard.

Who's that, going under the bus? Is it Matt Hancock? Is it Matt HANCOCK?

So if (and I appreciate the size of that "If" Cummings is right and Johnson did have misgivings about Hancock's ability to cope, why did he leave him in place?

And if he genuinely believed he wasn't up to the job of being Health Secretary in a pandemic, how does that equate to him "doing his best"?

Probably because its a fact Johnson called Hancock "****ing useless", whereas the subjective views on the Cabinet Office are the subjective views of someone who doesn't like the Cabinet Office.

Doubt there is much IF about this one. The question isn't "Why do you believe Cummings now?". It is "Do you believe Cummings capable of keeping and then releasing personal messages purely to settle a score?". If you don't answer yes, you haven't been following along. Doubt he has been dabbling in Photoshop for this one.

I think Gove would be very happy to work with him again, it's interesting to note that Cummings never seems to criticize Gove.

Maybe to do with putting Gove in office. Johnson's rival for leadership and back stabber. I think Gove would have made a much better job of it, with the possibility of out shining Sunnak and Johnson.

This is based on his role as environment secretary, despite being a slippery character, seemed to carry out his duties diligently.

Abso-bloody-exactly. When this thread first appeared a fair few posters couldn't seem to grasp that people might be of the opinion that DC is a nasty little shit AND be interested in what he has to say, particularly when most of it didn't seem to be especially surprising i.e. probably true.

Wonder if he's got more to spill.

That tweet just confirms that Johnson had thought about taking Hancock off PPE, not that he'd considered sacking him altogether.

Question regarding the Official Secrets Act.
DC would have signed it, surely he would have. It must be a rule that working within No10 you have to sign it.
Therefor any media sent by, or corresponding to, the PM must come within that Act.

Anyone feeling a bit sorry for Hancock in all this?

Is he just being set up as the patsy in a Johnson/Cummings/Gove love triangle, or is he actually incompetent and totally ****ing hopeless?

No.

They all deserve everything they get.

Sadly that's always a cushy ride and a shit load of money.
