It has already been mentioned on here how perhaps keep playing the same non scoring strikers perhaps takes away competition in the squad. Isnt that how Potter affects results?

He clearly doesn’t fancy Tau, he sees him every day so that’s his judgement. As soon as Connolly and Welbeck are fit he’s been trying them and playing them. Tried Lallana up front as soon as he’s properly fit and it nearly paid off as on a different day he could have had the match ball.

Now you feel having never really seen Tau that he’s worth the gamble, but you may not feel like that if you were seeing him in training games and he looked out of his depth. I don’t know. As for his other options, I think he’s been consistently trying them all when they’re fit, and in different combinations.

Certainly if we lose to Newcastle and Southampton I could see us being 2 to 4 points adrift and things being difficult.

I wasn't 'blaming him' for recruitment. The OP said GP inherited our current forwards, which wasn't correct. 3/5 were signed whilst he was manager. Whether Potter had a large part in signing them or simply had the final say is irrelevant.

How will you feel if we lose the next two games?

More importantly, what mental state will our team be in if they lose no matter how good the performance?

I think it's because these are 2 of our most 'winnable' upcoming fixtures (and Newcastle is a 6 pointer).

Many NSC optimists have pointed out that we could easily win matches against the big spenders.

We might get lucky eg ManC, ManU and Chelsea each get a whole load of key injuries, or naively rest too many players before European ties

All through the first half of the season, when we were playing well but just not getting the results, I always thought the luck would even out and we'd start getting the results we deserved - and in January it looked as if we had. Firmly in the 'no, we're not going to be relegated' camp. Our recent run of desperate results has inevitably (and justifiably) raised doubts - don't think we'll go down, but by no means certain.

Players need game time to get up to speed. Some players don't train well but have big affect on the pitch. I think he needs to tinker until something works.

In 2020 we were the very last professional team to win a game. He had 3 month to think about things and he managed to come up with a solution. He can do it. He just needs to figure things out.
