Steve Coppell came and managed here, so why not?

Adkins seems to get a lot of flak for one or two things (one that is continually mis-quoted), but so what? He's done well for himself, and the Southampton board have stuck with him (at the time of writing), and he could just turn things around along the coast.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are becoming a bit of a joke. Say the Russian gets Pep at the beginning of next season, and he fails miserably. What then? Who on earth does he turn to? He'd probably try and give it a go himself...
Wouldnt surprise me :lolol:

we're making it, not talking about it like liverpool and arsenal.

guess you chose to ignore this bit...

They're a business with no history and the history they've been building since 2001 will never match the achievements of liverpool, arsenal and man utd. The same applies to man city. whatever they achieve will just not be as good to the neutral.

Not at all, I just dont care , or agree especially as arsenal's "achievements" dont include winning the champions league .

Ok, I'll go against the grain and say that Matt Dickenson is talking shit, and it is a typical view of a sports journalist who is paid to offer his view as opposed to fans who shell out their hard earned cash every week, I'm not saying they're all like it but very often they just don't understand what it's like to be a supporter from the comfort of their press box.

I'm not sure how you can slag Chelsea fans off for this. How can they be fickle when they are protesting about sacking the previous manager? If they had sat down and supported benitez from the start, now that really would've been fickle. Nothing wrong with showing your feelings if you're not happy with the management - pretty sure most of us have done it at some point......

Did you read it?

Far from suggesting Chelsea fans don't have the right to protest, I think the main thrust of his argument was they are surely directing their anger at the wrong man!

In all other situations like this, I think most fans would be venting their disquiet at the board or owner. But like he said, perhaps they are too scared that all they have now would be gone in an instant if the oligarch backed away. So instead they effectively took all their anger out on Benitez, when really it is Roman they are angry at, but don't really want to say....

have chelsea gone a whole season unbeaten whilst winning the league without spending millions?

no you've only won the league because you've spent millions.

spot on! chelsea fans are angry at Roman but are way too scared to have a go at him. why? because they only know how to win one way... spend spend spend and they need Roman to do that.

With respect, I think you're doing sports journalists a slight disservice. Why do you think they got into that line of work in the first place? They must have had some kind of interest and felt strongly enough about it to have followed their dream. Every one of them has, at some point, shelled out hard-earned cash for their sporting fix. They're just like us really.

I don't think he's questioning their 'right' to protest about the sacking of Di Matteo. Quite the reverse, but there is one person, and one person only, at whose door this can all be laid and there wasn't one single protest against that man. Not one.

That single fact, more than anything else, is what undermines their credibility on this issue.

Did coppell ever have major rows with your club and fans ?

You've obviously never seen some of the interviews that benitez gave around the time of the phantom goal etc

Do you mean the ones where he said you had 'silly plastic flags' or something? Which you do (as did we, on the first game at the Amex). It's hardly along the lines of this, is it?

Still love that clip.

We can fill in the spaces as we go.
How on earth can you or dig 54 comment definitively on why chelsea fans are angry ? The short answer is you cant , you're just taking sensationalist journalism as gospel, pretty much like you did on the thread about the trader losing £1.4 billion, I had to correct you on that one as well, for the record there are a lot of "old" chelsea that couldnt give a f*** whether abramovich stays or goes , we'd love to have our club back , you must feel the same, what with 22,000 odd JCL' s ? sorry they're "lapsed" fans who always meant to get a season ticket at withdean, but only got round to it when the shiny new stadium and rich new owner materialised.

So how is everyone wrong? This "old" chelsea, did they want Di Matteo sacked, the only manager ever to win the club the Champions League. Did they want Benitez? Do they want Lampard and Cole to leave as well as Drogba? I bet they joined in the chanting like everyone else but didnt mutter a word against the Russian Billionaire.

Your post is literally gibberish, and guesswork , as evidenced by your comment that you "bet" they joined in the chanting.
