Did you ever go to Withdean? For the 10th game in a row when it was absolutely pissing down with rain? Or were you too busy not attending 'The Bridge' when your club was getting about an eighth of the attendances it now gets?

What is it with people desperate to use Withdean as a stick to beat Brighton fans with? Those that know, know that Withdean's attendances were f***ing miraculous considering some of the dross we had to watch in desperate conditions. I wonder how many of today's new Chelsea fans would have put up with Withdean-like conditions? Premier League Chelsea only averaged 18,700 in 1992/93-that is probably a good indicator. That also makes it that 23,000 of you couldn't be bothered to watch Chelsea in the top division so enough of the Billy Big Bollocks please.
I went to withdean twice , and theres no bertie big bollocks from me , just pointing out that you're not that different from us, albeit on a smaller scale, you were playing in a crumbling shit stadium, so were we, you were shit , so were we, you had low attendances and didnt sell out, so did we, along comes a new benefactor ( matthew harding at first who a lot of the jcl's sadly forget, or probably dont even know), spruces up/builds a new stadium, invests in the team , and hey presto, lots of new/lapsed fans and 20,000 odd in your case , new season ticket holders........................ glass houses and all that.

PS one stick you CANT beat me with is the where were you when you were shit one, i wasnt to busy NOT attending at all, I've always gone even when wer were shit, i've never been a season ticket holder, always just a member, average a couple away and about 10 home games a season, to be totally honest i've got better things to do with my time than watching chelsea v wigan on a cold january night, doess that make me a "glory hunter" maybe in the "they who doth protest too much" fans book, makes me an average fan in mine.

You don't need permission to support a club, so we could swap if we wanted. The fact that we choose to support our local club should tell you that we wouldn't swap.

Are you another of those Palace fans in disguise?
I support my local club as well, and i think you're deliberatly misinterpreting what i said, i was making the point that most of you brighton fans without doubt would take abramovichs money were it offered .

Hope the shitty club gets someone equally shitty in, fails to make Champions League, gets 20 point deduction for the Clattenburg case, Roman loses interest and pisses off leaving them with debt they can't pay, go into administration, sell Sell Stamford Bridge and end up ground sharing with either Fulham or QPR.

bushy...have you some sympathy with this trader who nearly brought UBS to its knees? Personally working in change and compliance management, I would question the people who were supposed to monitor what the hell we was doing.

This is the more worrying thing at UBS I would assume

To be honest mate he is an idiot to let it get that far, but his risk managers need their nuts gripped with red hot pliers , how the F*CK they could miss him mismarking positions on that scale is beyond me , i feel sorry to a certain extent because i can imagine the panic and dheer terror he would have felt, i myself have broken limits before , but on a scale far tinier than that , that wouldnt have brougjht down a corner shop had they gone wrong.

You're right to a certain extent , sadly.

Yup. I used to go quite often to Stamford Bridge when I was little (step-dad was an original 1970s Westbourne Park hoolie) and of all the London clubs to have lost its way, I reckon Chelsea must be at the top of that list. Just out of curiosity, do they still have that Working Men's Club bar just off the King's Road near the entrance to the Shed? I wonder what the characters in there make of it all.

Could well be. I think it was the boozer that some of the nastier faces started to drink in when pubs like the Swan kept getting aggro from the police or away fans chancing their arm. I have a little story about that place (or people who used to drink in there) for you but another time away from the internet.

Back in the late 70s, early 80s when I went to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea was definitely a working-class club but back then Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill,Westbourne Park were still working class areas. My stepdad's mum lived next door to Daley Thompson's old dear in a high rise, for instance - and no-one but no-one dared answer back to the West Indian women who lived there...but I digress. Going to Chelsea back then scared the bejasus out of me, I don't think it would scare my two lads as much going there now.

yep, 3 league titles in 7 years, 3 fa cups,2 league cups, champions league winners , absolute joke , and please dont give me some old bollocks about not swapping it for the integrity, and "real fans" of brighton ( the 2nd result i look for) 20,000 of you that go now couldnt be bothered to get to the withdean.
Wasn't really what was I implying, more the the fact that winning the Champion's League seems to be the only thing that matters now, that 3rd in the Premier League after playing some lovely football at the start of the season (admittedly with a bit of a tail off recently) and that sacking a manager shortly after the team has won the Champions League and the FA Cup is frankly laughable.

Still, you're the Chelsea fan.

That is more success in 7 years than in Chelsea's entire history. How many managers in that same period - 8, 9, depending on how you view caretakers?

How can a club that is having the most successful time in it's history be so consistently embroiled in so much turmoil? It really does beggar belief.

Arent those two things completely related tho? Roman bought the titles and is a nutcase.

It's sad. Stamford Bridge should be a scary place. I guess it's all about the way days now, or at least it's starting to feel like that for me.

Oddly enough, for years I wanted Chelsea to do better than they were and the ONE Chelsea fan I knew was a decent chap, then along cam Roman with his mighty bank balance, as if by magic people I'd known for years started wearing Chelsea shirts and assorted Chelsea clothing, turning up in the pubs where they'd never been before talking about "we" this and "us" that not even knowing the names of some of the players.

That sort of made me dislike them intently, funny thing is, I get the same feeling now when I hear people talking about Brighton as "we" and "us" when before August 2011 I'd never even heard them mention BHA let alone as US.

Baffling decision. With Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all looking pretty ordinary Chelsea are a shoe-in for a Champions League spot. This means decent money again next season. They've also got a reasonable chance of qualifying from their group this time around too.

Abramovich tasked AVB with overseeing the replacement of the old guard - it didn't work, RDM worked a miracle with the old guard and then in the summer started the rebuilding in earnest by bringing in Oscar, Hazard, Moses and Azpilicueta, and blooding Ryan Bertrand. He ditched, Boswinga, Drogba, Essien and Kalou, while Lampard and Terry's cards have both been marked.

RDM's position was similar to Sir Alex in 2008/09. Having won the Champions League he then had to dismantle a side and rebuild. The likes of Gary Neville, Tevez and Ronaldo departed, and the roles of Rio, Giggs and Scholes were downgraded. Even Sir Alex would have to admit his side have never been the same since, and City have the best squad by far. Luckily for Sir Alex, back in 2008 Man City weren't the spending giant they are now.

Given that RDM has to rebuild, does Abramovich REALLY think they should be above one or both of city and United? And to cap it all RDM is a Chelsea legend. He really doesn't deserve such shabby treatment.

I just misinterpreted, it wasn't deliberate. Yes, I'm sure we'd take the money.
