Bangura may look promising but he wont score goals like Hammond used too.
He is our player, isn't he? There is nowhere to send him back!
People annoy me about Cox. Yes, often his delivery is not perfect. But here is an idea. Watch a FULL premiership game. Not the highlights a FULL game. Count how many misplaced passes there are, how many corners and free-kicks - even from the likes of Gerrard et al - do not beat the first man or are over-hit and go straight out.
Then come back and demand that a League 1 winger supplies us with pinpoint service every single time he gets on the ball.
Its the same as the idiots who expect our full backs to be able to switch the play to the other side of the pitch, with their wrong foot, while under pressure.
Hammond offered something going forward, something no midfielder since he left has done.
Not sure I've read anyone getting quite that carried away mate.
I'd say perhaps a Curbishley at Charlton. Was doing a very solid job with a team that wasn't as good as their position in the league. The job being done by the manager was only fully appreciated when someone else tried to improve on it and it all went pop.
Would the boot give more consistent delivery?
Hammond wasn't a BAD player, but I wasn't particularly sad to see him go (specially for that fee), being as he'd been Mr Invisible for almost that entire season up until being sold. People seem to look back and remember his smattering of goals/pens. But he was poor enough in our team to earn an ultimatum from McGhee to perform over x number of games or he'd not be getting his contract renewed. He knuckled down for a while, put in the performances and rightly earned that contract. But he'd very much slipped back to his anonymous ways the season he was sold, in my opinion.
When he got that short term contract he had played about 3 games for us. McGhee gave him a 3 month deal, brought him in for the home game against Preston, which was our first win of the season, played him for a bit, gave him a longer deal, dropped him, then brought him back for the run in, including the 2-2 with West Ham, where Hammond got both goals.
The following season he was a regular, often on the left. Then the next season after McGhee went, Wilkins made him captain and he was a regular until we sold him.
Hmmm, not sure about that. The difference between them imo is that with Carole you have a player who can turn a match with a bit of skill, skill which Cox seems to lack.
I don't think that is correct Easy.Fact is, we were shit when Hammond was here as well.
