We are 6 points from safety !!!!!!!!! People say the table does not lie.The whole team bar none have underachieved so far. At the end of the season we can take a view,i believe its a team game.

I do not agree.
Therefore, you must be WRONG.

That is all.

Seconded. Top assist provider for the previous two seasons and loads of goals from midfield. However, he needs a manager that knows how to get the best from him. I also think he is the only player that we have that is capable of a defence splitting pass. nobody else at the club has an ounce of vision, it's all hit and hope.

You could see his head go down as soon as the first free kick which he miss hit and the crowd got on his back.
Like Davies seems to running low on confidence and its not really a surprise when the crowd get on people's back as soon as they do something wrong

...as the umpteenth freekick from Cox failed to clear the first man this season.
Davies was so clumsy with his 1st half chance, it was embarrassing. I'm afraid that if you lack touch and class, however hard you work, it will still end up with the same result.

If it's a confidence thing with Cox & Davies then they'd be better off out of the team while they sort out they're confidence because the position we're in at the moment we cant afford to carry passengers.

Why oh why does he still take set-pieces? the one near the Southend Dug-out was the worst one I've seen Cox take ever. It went like a daisy cutter across the ground and went straight to a Southend player. He tried in the second half, and produced a stunning 25 yarder but was superbly saved by their keeper, but part from that nothing else really definitely gone backwards....

I do.
We REEKED that season in the run-up to his sale. That wasn't all down to Hammond obviously, but he certainly wasn't the shining beacon of midfield mastery some folk have him pegged as.
Well it depends what you mean by in the run up to his sale, he left in late January and we were poor at that time, he was suspended then of course, not that I'm suggesting that's the only reason we were poor. But I think up until Millwall away when off the field problems came to the fore we were doing very well, we were among the playoff pack and I felt playing some very good passing football.

Cox has not been good enough pretty well all season. Constant failure to beat the first defender with corners, poor free kicks, inability to beat his man.

So OK he had a very good game today. What has prevented him playing that way all season? No excuses, the guy is supposed to be a professional footballer.

I hope he maintains his improved form, but one good game doesn't change the fact that this season so far HE HASN'T BEEN GOOD ENOUGH.

The entire squad, except maybe Forster and Murray, HAVEN'T BEEN GOOD ENOUGH. Cox has ability, anyone that didn't think so must have a short memory. I don't deny he didn't kick on after his excellent initial form although he was still pretty decent last season. Hopefully now we've got a proper manager he can get back on track?

I can't agree there, all these youngsters in the past have shown ability under both McGhee and Wilkins. Thats why in the past we have always thought that some of them could be worth money to this club in transfer fees.
As for attitude, that certainley is the responsibility of any manager, he has to instill the correct attitude in players.

Can't help but think that, as so often seen elsewhere, players such as Cox and Elphick will be galvanised by the confidence-inducing enthusings of a positive and motivational manager.....perhaps that man has already arrived, if Cox vs Yeovil is anything to go by?

Cox is better when coming inside, I don't think he's best used as a winger. Livermore got forward well to support him, and maybe that's what Cox needs, someone on his outside to be able to take defenders on. Or maybe he should be playing in the centre.

Either way, he proved today is he good enough, against crap opposition, but he needs to do it more often. And I confidently predict he will, under Russell Slade.

Fair play to Cox he put in a good performance today and deserved the man of the match award, Lets hope he carries that form on for the rest of the season now.

Hammond was my favourite player and I would welcome him back with open arms.

Since his departure we have not had any central midfield player who regularly gets ahead of the ball and occupies defenders, thus helping create space for the forwards.

I for one would rather have paid Hammond over the odds instead of having to spunk a load of cash on the dozen or so loan signings and new players we have tried, and failed, to replace him with.

Good post....and regards Hammond creating space for strikers, that's also how in some cases the space the strikers subsequently created helped Hammond get forward further and grab a few headed goals a la West Ham.

Have been banging on about movement for some time and Hammond was the type of player who either directly or indirectly created space and precipitated movement during forward moves.

Still, it's all water under the bridge unless a Hammond return gets back on the transfer agenda in earnest.

It has nothing to do with Adams and all to do with their lack of ability/attitude.

I think Coxy backed up what I was saying about Adams today. He not only showed his ability and attitude today of pre Adams, but scored two good goals and won the MOM.

Got to agree with that, he's a grown up now, no more "he's only a kid" excuses.
