Yawn.

Who out of any of the other parties at the time said 'Dont do that Gordan because the price of gold will go up in a few years time!'

No one!

Hindsight is a fantastic tool for dishing out a beating with.
eddie george who was the bank of england governor and numerous treasury officials certainly did.

Happening today.

No chance that Gideon is moved on though, sadly, despite being a truly shit chancellor. #jobsfortheboys

Not quite as truly sh!t as Mr Brown and Mr Darling who along with Gungho Blair were largely responsible for the mess we are in.

George Osborne must maintain the current fiscal approach in the firm belief that we come out of it OK in a couple of years time.

Alternatively we could elect a government like the French have just done and do sort of 'douse oneself with petrol and light match' economics!

By spending more and borrowing more? while also cutting services and jobs which will lead more problems long-term?

As Sandy Toksvig once said - Ah, Tories, the people who put the "n" in cuts.

The present government does seem to be doing pretty well at hammering those who deserve it least in to the ground. Whatever happened to the (obviously oxymoronic) concept of compassionate conservatism.

The interesting thing about the new French government is that they made all kinds of claims and promises about spending in the lead-up to the election. Now they are in government they are beginning to realise that they need to make cutbacks after all.

Yes and then he wonders why he (Osborne) gets booed when he pitches up at the paralympics having wrecked disbility benefits.

And some say thats 'unlucky'!

Whcih bit of the current economic policy is working best would you say?

Exactly, be interesting to read how many and who made comments saying it wasn't a good idea at the time otherwise such comments are worthless

Humdrum brown sold the gold at delboy prices without informing anyone as was his usual practice..he was warned of his stupid act by his own colleague Alistair darling and the entire shadow treasury at the time..this clown is solely responsible for all our troubles and cokey Osbourne unfortunately is the only hope we have!

yes , my cousins 19 year old daughter has had hers taken away , for her "dyslexia" , apparently this means she cant work, she's certainly never had a job in her life, and it was without any question, disability benefit not unemployment benefit that she was on, never mind , shes just had her first baby so thats that problem sorted, strangely her dyslexia has never stopped her from posting on facebook all day every day.

At least they have given him a job title that does not begin with C.

True LOL. But that doesn't make him suitable. In fact, we now have a Health Secretary who believes in funding homeopathic medicine because he thinks it works (see: http://moteprime.org/article.php?id=31).

When this sort of thing happens in the USA, we roll our eyes and say 'you couldn't make it up'.

All I'm saying is that Cameron and Osborne were best of chums. For that reason alone, I'm not expecting Cameron to EVER have the stones to sack Gideon, despite him being a shockingly TOILET chancellor.

Politicaly, Its impossible for Cameron to sack Osborne for the reason that it will look like they have been following the wrong economic path. Only after the next election, if they manage to win, will he be able to sack him - if the economy ist still performing badly.
