...and confirmation that Chelsea have been given those additional ESL blocks.

Absolutely Pathetic.

No other premier league club would do that for us. People complain about the away end sucking the ball in the net by having a whole end of the stadium, so why not give them more! Hope the revenue from the extra 1000 tickets was worth it when they get a last minute equaliser/winner down that end.

We know the club is aware of the "bad look" of empty seats to the TV cameras - they consistently work hard to sell those previously hard-to-fill seats in the ESL immediately next to the away fans.

So, I assume this move is recognising those blocks were going to very "gappy", but giving them to Chelsea resolves that.

Closing sales off in the WSU will also serve to boost sales in the East, which is in full view of the TV audience.
So we've given Chelsea an advantage for optics on TV, right great. Wasn't arsed about winning anyway, as long as we don't look silly on TV...

Chelsea fans are going to be absolutely unbearable on the night. It will be like an away game for us. I hope we stuff em.

The main issue is, as ever, the transport. I can't think of a worse ground in the entire league for getting away from a match. I live in London, but I've decided to go. If it does go to extra time/pens, it will be impossible to get back to Brighton station until 11.15/11.30. There are only a few trains back to London after that time. With 5k+ Chelsea fans at the match, it will be carnage.
If its goes to pens the only way you're back to Brighton by 11.15 is if you sprint to the station to beat the queue & are straight on a train. Adding up the 90 mins match, injury time, extra time, injury time on the extra time, the breaks in between all of those & the pens then it will finish just before 11 if i've done the math right. If there's any sort of queue or wait for a train it could easily be 11.45 or later back to Brighton i'd say, just in case there's a particular London bound train you're aiming for. Im in the same situation.

Supporter surveys? I don‘t believe supporters voted for it.
I suspect these were done by the epl. We know they have a history of interesting survey findings (based on giving equal credence to armchair observers)

Because nobody cares, nobody has worked out this will mean that a large majority of away fans are going to need to travel on one service back to London if it goes to extra time, and with the best intentions you are not getting 4k people onto a singular 00.04 Thameslink service. The FA and whoever agreed to the kick off time don't actually give a shit what's going on, and whether its workable. The license agreement at the stadium ends at 23.00, so there will be no allowing for hanging around after the game for anyone, everyone will have to converge on the station.

Absolutely. And its why I totally understand the people who have decided to give this a miss. Imagine being a family with kids and having to battle 4k of Chelsea fans onto a train back to London, or anywhere out of Brighton... and then if you miss it having to pay for a very expensive taxi.

Why not have another 1000, that'll help!

Just to add - there doesn't seem to be any indication on the Chelsea side yet that they have an extra allocation, but the diagram on our ticketing site does suggest that currently.

None of that matters though compared to being able to say in a shiny brochure to potential advertisers that the Amex was at 95% capacity for 100% of games in the 2024-25 season. The same reason why tickets sold are used for attendance figures rather than actual attendance
But Albion pretty much sell out every match. Certainly every PL match. Season tickets sell out months before the beginning of the season and even Cup games normally are close to sell outs. The away ends nearly always sell out as well. Season Ticket holders don't always attend for all sorts of personal reasons as we know . but . Why is it - even though that when we sell a lot of tickets - we do - and mention it once in a one off stadium announcement - people are so annoyed about it. ? or irked that the club might be pleased about it. Well you would , wouldn't you ?

If you don't buy or buy but dont use the cup ticket then you risk having your season tickets taken off you
So as a ST holder, if I don't pay the extra to buy a ticket for the FA Cup - which I'm not - I risk losing my ST. Ha, right!

The cup games are not that close to sell outs, the cup games this season, only one has got anywhere near selling out (Liverpool). Crawley, Wolves and Chelsea large parts of the stadium have been closed / given to away fans. Giving Chelsea extra tickets is a comical decision. WSU is now closed, where is my seat going to be now? A bit of communication on that front wouldn't go a miss?

We booked when you were able to in the WSU, ST is in the North Stand but enjoy having a change for some of the cup games.

If the front few rows are full but there are loads of empty seats behind us, does that mean it will be ignored if we venture back and sit in unsold seats? Or will the stewards insist we sit where we have purchased?

I get annoyed about it because I'm a sad individual. The history books for example will forever show Brentford on Boxing Day was a 30,000+ crowd, making it one of the biggest in the history of the club (due to 30,000+ only becoming the norm for the past 7 seasons).

Reality is there was no more than 15,000. What is the point in reporting attendance figures or claiming record attendances if the number doesn't actually reflect the attendance?

In fairness, I probably have been annoyed in the 1950s/1960s/1970s/1980s too when attendances were underreported for tax reasons. According to most people who went, there were waaaaay more at the Goldstone day the record crowd was set against Fulham.

For somebody who likes stats and boring stuff like, attendances going back 124 years (even those which weren't accurate) have now been made completely pointless.

I would imagine the WSU will be open and you will sit in the seat you have bought.

There’s really no need for the club to tell you that.

I suspect the club merely want all remaining ticket sales to be in camera-facing areas.

That's the policy that was in place from 2018/19 to 2024/5. It's changing next season is believe to you can opt in to cup tickets where these will be automatically purchased when they're available based on payment methods advised for the club. If you don't opt in then there is no 'season ticket holders window' you just get the chance to buy alongside all other members

Well, yes. However the policy has slightly changed but your sarcastic comment (and I love sarcasm) was actually correct for about five seasons.
