No, no it wasn't.

There are no Google ads today, you may notice. There'll be no NSC either if I'm not able to resolve that one.

Stop ranting about Dicks, get you finger out and get it resolved then...... Bloody west country waster.....

Isn't bullshit on the Google banned list?

me thinks someone on here just trying to get a rise out of people..if you start a sentence with "you have to look inward"....really?!?

I think it's perfectly reasonable to have one area of the stadium which is kept child-free on a matchday. Afterall, there is a family stand, so why not an area for those without children?

A bit emotive there, nobody at the Albion is moaning at us to buy more stuff. They'll just charge us more for it. :)

If not 'moaning' it was certainly 'encouraging' when the £8m loss was announced. "Do your bit, come early, leave late, have a pie and a pint..." was part of the message delivered.

Anyway, I'm out of this. I shouldn't have got drawn in.

Perhaps they could allow children in Dick's pre-match, but not after match, when they can run riot anyway in the East Stand Brasserie to their hearts content ???

Its really not much to ask to have ONE small child-free zone in the entire stadium, is it?

Ive waited for you to post this. You're a hypocrite.

Years ago I tried to get Attila to change the music at Withdean to be more child-friendly. I got told by the old farts, yourself included that it's first and foremost a football stadium and I shouldn't expect the majority to have to bend to the minority. And...it's a football match. People go for the footie not the music.

Fast forward a few years and the old farts want special dispensation away from other fans because they can't cope with being in an environment with children. Well, guess what? It's a football stadium...with children in. And we go for the footie, not to be part of a private club for misanthropes. You want that? Well, why not do it in your own time?

As I said. Hypocrites.

Btw- my sons have the distinction of being the very first children to be kicked out of Dick's Bar. Badge of honour.

The last time I was in Dick's, with nail-Z a month or two back, some old folks joined our table.

Hey, steady on...

Wow. I've never mentioned anything about "not expecting majorities to bend to minorities" when it comes to music at Withdean (or anywhere else for that matter). Find that quote and throw it back at me, I assume its stored somewhere if you've been waiting so long to use it and call me a hypocrite.

I'll tell you why that wouldn't have come from me - I honestly couldn't give a STUFF what music is played over the tannoy before the game. I'd get to my seat at 2.59pm each game at Withdean, and I and generally still do at the Amex. It makes not a jot of difference to me. They could play Green Sleeves, or the theme to Teletubbies on a loop for all I care. On the occasions I am in my seat, whatever is on the tannoy is of minimal interest, its just background while I catch up with my mates. I couldn't even tell you whether the playlist is good, bad or indifferent these days.

I'd agree on the whole that people go to the football for the football, not for the music, so I can't quite get my head round how it apparently matters so much to some people what songs are played in the build-up. I may well have said that - but how you POUNCE on that as an example of hypocrisy just because I don't want kids in Dicks (or Dicks in kids for that matter)....well...not quite sure how you're marrying those two things up to be honest chap.

No there isn't. Not in that sense.

(There are a couple of blocks of seats, which are sold to families - that's as far as the physical existence of a family stand goes) Don't present it as though there's some special area, with its own facilities, that is out of bounds to people without children in tow. It doesn't exist (and nor should it need to).

My apologies. I had been led to believe that there were special facilities/activities laid on for children on matchday within the East Stand.

There are some people who go to a pub/bar to get away from the bloody kids, not be subjected to other people's. Who can't go three hours without a pint, and as already stated if your that desperate to have a beer, you can buy one in the ground. They will all be 18 years old soon enough and coming home pissed and throwing up everywhere, without encouraging it from childhood.

My God, that's badly written. I KNOW you don't care about the music. I paraphrased and I don't have the quote, just a good memory. My point is very clear, I think that you and the other farts are hypocrites to demand a special little area away from other football fans at a football match...attended by children. As you and the others misanthropes have said, we're here for the football, not for an adult only drinking experience.

Yes. But people come for the football, not for a drink in a child-free bar. Or do they? Are there sad numb nuts out there whose whole match day experience is ruined by the very important business of drinking without a child in sight?

Hold on ... it's now being suggested that people are going to Dick's Bar BECAUSE it's child-free. That's simply not the case.

My one regret about the place is that it's not the supporters-run establishment that was originally asked for (that I think could have been run successfully). But that regret doesn't stop me going there. And the service IS pretty good, even allowing for the occasional shortages of particular items.

.

Yes it is, according to some of the quotes on this thread. Don't presume to talk for others.

I don't. I went there once to see what it was like, and it was full of kids running round my feet. I'll stick to Dick's bar.
