Forgive me, but I think I have a right to disagree with your judgement on certain players if you truly value Doug Loft.
I feel it would be harsh to say that the players I mentioned are not good enough for league 1. Invariably, players do get better with time, especially young ones that show signs of promise in their first season. Maybe not all of them, but I very much doubt even one of our younger players won't improve and I think its clutching at straws to say they will to be quite honest. The ones that go from being superstars to nobodies don't necessarily endure that because they don't improve, its because they don't turn out to be as good as people thought they would be.

Elder - you presume wrong, my friend
Bertin - you never know
Robinson - hasn't scored enough but not short on effort or guile
Savage - would have got relegated without him and that's a fact. we expected nothing when he came here, so we should show some confidence in him after some pretty awesome performances. Agree has been crap at times, but lets face it, everyone has.
Kuipers - fair enough
Revell - i don't think its unfair to say its been a pretty sensational first season, considering his past. hate to point it out, but he already got us more than ten goals last season, with the 'current service'

I can only assume you've missed a bit of irony in some of my Loft posts. at least 30 have probably been about his hair. The other 40 or so have probably labelled him a 'legend'. Of course he's not.

Wilkins clearly agrees with me, even if you don't, and i suspect his judgement is probably better than yours - Loft has promise, is on a low wage, and is a grafter. He can pass a ball, has scored a couple of goals, and can run at players. He's been brilliant for the reserves. I'm not saying he should be in the starting line up every week, but i don't think signing a youngster up for another year is a disaster, not at all. If the reason you think Elder is good is because of his reserve goals, then you shouldn't have a problem with Loft being given a season when he's scored lots and created just as many. Loft also is a left midfielder - we've not exactly got many of them.

As for Revell, goals in the Paint Trophy and against Northwich Victoria aren't going to get us to 8th place. In the league, he's a ten goal a season man.

I don't disagree with your opinion on any of the other players, i just fail to see how you think the current squad is capable of a 'good' finish in this league...unless of course you think 8th palce is an unrealistic aim.

Revell scored 2 in the paint trophy and 1 against Northwich. Before you said ' he's not going to get us 10 goals a season'. I didn't say the current squad was good enough. I said the current squad with some experienced signings would be good enough. We are not a million miles away from being a good team. I think Wilkins said that. He's obviously right about Loft, so why not that too?

In which case, we are seemingly arguing about nothing, as i feel the same - and stated that earlier in the thread. 3 experienced players would do me quite nicely, added to what we've got, with Hinsh and Reid returning.:)

Apparently so.

He returned to training after his long lay-off from... whatever it was he did. He then crocked himself in training and hurt something else - something which is recoverable in a time period of 4-6 weeks, and he did this about a month ago.

The original injury has healed apparently.

Cruciate knee ligament. He and Ned were comparing scars at the Race night.

I dunno. But I've always been a tad cautious about baring my scars just in case I get reciprocally more than I'd, er, bargained for!

To be fair Revell was injured for a large part of this season. Whenever he plays he plays with spirit and commitment and at League 1 level I'm sure he will be a force. Whatever your views on Mcghee were/are this was an excellent buy for the club.

Still find it very odd they let P.Hinsh go.

And yet they kept Mayo. It defies belief.

When we spoke to Wilkins at Grays athletic a few weeks ago, he seemed less than confident about holding onto Bertin.........

Hardly surprising though if we offer him £500 a week.
