Don't get me wrong - I would be f***ing cock-a-hoop if Bertin re-signed. With him in the side, our play-off chances are slim - without him, they're a fantasy.

I can't agree... say he doesn't sign, then we will surely go after someone else in his position... it will not necessarily be the end of any attempt on the play-offs...

Logic dictates that if Bertin doesn't sign, El-Abd will play in that role. However, as Bertin has shown the level required, El-Abd is going to have to raise the quality of his game.

Or, Charlie will get fit or, as I said earlier, we will go out and sign someone else... that's my logic anyway.... El-Abd is best at RB, and will not make the grade in a defensive midfield role, IMHO... that's my logic, anyway...

Whe I say 'logic', I mean that is the route Wilkins might well go, bearing in mind the restrictions placed on the number of players we can get in. CM may not well be the top priority spot to fill.

Bertin is already way beyond Oatway.

For me, El-Abd isn't anywhere near Bertin's quality yet - but that's not to say he won't ever be.

Thus I said improved, Its a shame I dont think he will stay and if he does people will slate him for passing the ball back to keep it rather than hoof it forward aimlessly.

Him plus another in midfield would be good.

How good would a midfield of say

Cox bertin doherty/bircham hammond

Very good - Equally as good with a fully fit Reid? He looked to be in great form before his injury.

What's wrong with Reid then?

A midfield quarter of Cox, Reid, Hammond and Bertin would be BRILLIANT.

But the point is, he's actually SIGNED players. Under the previous regime, the targets were too high and therefore unachievable. Now, he takes gambles (Savage, Elder, Sam Williams) and some pay off, some don't. Makes you wonder what the f*** McGhee was doing beforehand, if he had the opportunity to make the same gambles.

We've got a good squad, however negative people insist on being. I think once we've got Hammond back and we add a few more seasoned campaigners, we'll be moving onwards and upwards:clap:

We have a squad that almost got relegated to division 2 with little hope it will be any stronger next season.
Realistic not negative
