If you look at the stamp incident from one of the angles it looks like he moved his foot in the direction of RvP's head...instead of allowing it to return to the ground, to me that is enough to suggest it was deliberate.

Adebayor said "When I score a goal, for two or three seconds I can't control myself."

2 or 3 seconds to run 90 odd yards. Usain had better watch out.

SUGGEST! A blind man wearing a blindfold could have told you that it was 100% deliberate.

Adebayor went up in my estimation yesterday. Watching him run the length of the pitch to wind up those sad gooners was priceless :lolol:

The incident with Van Persie was unfortunate, but someone needs to tell Van Persie that if you're going to try and foul a player, don't put your head where his foot is about to go :dunce:

 Spot on.

Wenger must be furious, Adebaor never had that type of pace when he played for Arsenal, I swear he overtook Usain Bolt running up to the Arsenal fans.

The stamp on van persie was subject to 25 minutes discussion on Sky Sports news whilst in the pub today, it gets worse and worse every time, what a wanker!! But the celebration was brillio, especially when the hot dog and the plastic stoll went flying in his direction*

*it wasnt really funny and I cant condone that kind of behaviour

I thought the celebration was hilarious, and good on him for doing it.

However the stamp on RVP, was disgraceful

SSN - it's got twenty four hours to fill, seven days a week and the brainless monkeys that make up the 'pundits' on that show would discuss one of the hairs on the inside cleft of RVP's left butt cheek for eight hours solid if they were paid - and not a bit of it would be worth listening to because most of them can barely tie their shoe laces, let alone comment with any modicum of intelligence on any aspect of life, sport or RVP's cheeks.

Re the stamp, I'm certain he meant to do it, but I think (honestly) he was going for Van Persie's hand, which was on the pitch, and ended up clipping his head on the way down. Not enough to avoid an FA charge, naturally, as if you're aiming to get someone, it's your fault anyway, but not quite as sinister as RvP would like us all to think.

Going back to the celebration: yes, if an opponent did that to us, I would be bloody annoyed, but then again, as a semi-decent human being (I think) I consider that I'd be restrained enough not to throw anything, attempt to punch anyone, or run on the pitch as a result, as I'm sure are most people. It bites, but that's life.

To suggest that football fans can't be expected to control themselves in the face of a bit of provocation from the occasional player is frankly insulting. We get annoyed, we boo the player even more next time, and we laugh when one of our own players gives him a kicking. That's where it stops. All this "incitement" crap rather suggests that the members of the crowd are too stupid to be in control of their own actions...and frankly if they are, then they deserve all they get.

As for the fans, well if you sing insulting songs about players' wives/mothers/appearance/caravan passions then as a rule I have no issue with that (within reason), but you can't then complain when the aforementioned player absolutely larges it in your face when he scores or his team win. The lamest thing about all this Adebayor business is the fact that I'd bet plenty of the Arse fans crying to the media about his "shocking" behaviour are the same ones singing to him about elephants and whores not a couple of minutes previously. Double standards?

The stamp was 100% deliberate.

As for the celebration, it might be amusing to watch but it was a stupid thing to do. It would cause uproar in any game. Was it last season or the season before when Revel fouled Kuipers and everyone was up in arms. Now imagine if in that game he had scored against us and sprinted down the length of the pitch to score in front of the Albion fans. Honestly, how would the Albion fans have reacted?

Having seen their pathetic and embarrassing reaction to Glenn Murray at Brentford, I think we all know the answer to that, but it doesn't make it right.

Adebayor puzzled by ban talk
Emmanuel AdebayorManchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor sees no reason why he faces punishment by the Football Association.

It seems certain the £25m forward will be charged with violent conduct for his apparent stamp on Robin van Persie during Saturday's 4-2 win over Arsenal.

Adebayor, who could also be charged for his goal celebration, told The Sun: "I don't know what I've done wrong to get banned. The club have said nothing."

I've been away from the computer for a few days so have only just caught up with this. I must say that I think Arsenal fans are getting off rather lightly, it wasn't Adebayor who was chucking things. The fans need to learn that if you dish it out, you have to take it too.

But I don't understand those people who say that Adebayor will be punished for the celebration. AFAIK, players can only be punished retrospectively if the ref has failed to spot something. As he got booked for the celebration can he also receive further punishment? And if so, when did that ruling change?

Did you miss the boot down the side of Van Persie's face ?. Also the Arsenal fans thrown object because of his celebration.

You're right US - the fans only threw things (at that point) because of the celebrations, but that doesn't make it right. Would it have been acceptable to do other things because a man jumped up and down in front of them? Child sacrifice perhaps?

You can understand their ire - esp when you read about how abusive they had been prior to the incident - but nothing excuses throwing things. Nothing at all. Simple. See Edna's note above.

If leon knight scored then ran all the way over to a corner of Brighton fans, slid on his knee and put his arms out as If he was the saviour then a think a few Brighton fans would have done EXACTLY the same. But of course this would be an opinion using the notion that brighton fans are like all other football fans which, of course, we all know we're actually BETTER than.

As far as I read it, the FA are WRONG by saying the Adebayor could get 6 matches for his celebration.

Remember, the FA are the same people that have been telling us for years that they cannot do anything if a referee has already taken action (Adebayor got a yellow for the celebration). I actually believe Adebayor deserves action against him for the celebration and for the stamp. However, it annoys me that the FA chop and change the rules whenever it seems to suit them.

Yes punish Adebayor (he ruddy deserves it), but please be consistent in applying the 'rules'.
