You're an Albion fan. I'm an Albion fan.
Wilkins was not, is not, nor ever will be an Albion fan. Neither does he "bleed blue and white". He was a professional earning a living at the club, and as is often the case in his profession, that came to an end. To perceive Wilkins as a "fan" who Dick kicked out is nonsense.

He was being paid by the club for 20years he had to be a fan and he wasn't just ambling along he was trying to climb the ladder of success to be no1 at the Albion when we get Falmer then he would have tried to get us into the premiership as that was the dedication he had for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Wilkins broke the mould IMO.

Can you name another person on the playing side who has achieved this?

I did not actually say he was treated worse than McGhee or Gritt but as you bring it up McGhee was on the slippery slope and Gritt was never a good manager he got lucky for one game IMO.

The fact we were in div3 again was the reason for the crowd figures and the crunch was already biting at £26 quid a ticket.

If we ain't in the top 5 at Xmas just watch the attendance figures slide.

Simple Wilkins was F*cked over unless i find out he killed Dicks Hamster or stroked his wife pussy i won't believe otherwise.

Gritt's home record taking over with the club 12 points adrift of div 4.

Played 11

Won 9
Drawn 2
Lost 0

Got lukcy for 1 game

Wilkins is gone and I say thank f*** for that. He was a great coach and should never have been appointed manager. I sat and watched absolute toilet football for 2 years with a manager and team going nowhere , it was DIRE pure and simple. Now tjhe club can move forward and after 10 Withdean games next season I can guarantee it will be Wilkins who ?.

What I said is that Wilkins wage as coach would have been kept the same as the wage he was getting as manager.

I am not here to slag off Gritt but those few remaining games will all he will ever be remembered for as a manager anywhere in football.

Wilkins was S*t on i am sure Mickey will take us up but the squad was shaping up and with a few additions which he has done we have a great chance of promotion, but the key point is Wilkins should have been in charge and doing it just seems one managers chance of success has been spoilt by a Chairman or board who bottled it and it will have cost us alot more to have Mickey, can't see the logic personally.

But if Chairman Knights changing of manager results in us finishing below where we did last season, than you can knock Chairman Knight for his actions, as it will have taken us backwards, you spoon.

How about if we finish 8th but with more points....

That sums up the situation very well.

That sums up my feelings also... the increase in season tickets (which is the subject of this thread) would suggest that many agree.

I cannot remember. prior to Wilkins appointment, the last time when the months just drifted by during the season when we were not fighting either relegation or challenging for the promotion, which made it a very boring season. When we did put a run together to spark a little interest the team for whatever reaon, players tactics whatever, were not up to the task. As A STH I am looking forward to this coming season with renewed excitement.

I think you have to view it that if we do not make the play offs, the season will have been a failure. If Adams has been brought in to improve what Wilkins was doing, then the minimum is a top 6 finish.

Now for all Gubbers guffing on this thread, I do not really think the football will improve. Yes we will at last get rid of the diamond, which seemingly the players hate, but Adams was very much a football pragmatist and expect to see hard working, defence minded sides. I really would not be surprised to see us play 5 at the back, as often this is what Adams did in his first season and we do seem to have rather a lot of centre backs.

Why hasn't he tried 5 at the back in the two friendlys so far then???
